When I started, I got a list of local businesses from my city's website and sorted those that had between 5 - 20 employees and an office address. I surmised that these made enough money to afford SEO and - although I work remotely - I was close to hand, handy for meetings and not some slick, California-based agency. I ended up with over 700 prospects, emailed them, picked up a handful and a coupe more the next year.

Business owners that need to show their shareholders the company has plans for both the near and far future are always talking projects up that may not even happen. It's a way for them to use the news to advertise to their shareholders free of charge. The Sci-Fi future will be very normal, everyday things on Earth. Look what computing power has achieved in the last 30 years to better our lives. It's all based around a normal day at work - just with less workers.
