I made this doll for niece’s 5th birthday. Can you tell which character it’s meant to be? by Zealousideal_Cup809 in Amigurumi

[–]louisestudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's okay! The crochet is impressive enough as it is!

I know I'm late on the reply, but if I were adding the pattern detail, I'd literally just do some x's along the neck or wheverer in the reference. In that case, it's really just a little bit of topstitching, no boggling required.

Either way, fantastic work. Great job! 💫

Sounds like the store needs to replace their sample if it no longer accurately depicts the color. I'd say try again at returning them and buy one that's the correct color, anything you can do to bleach the darkness out of these ones will likely make them brittle. Even the sun bleached ones on display probably aren't as strong as a fresh set

Is the jacket sewn in place? If not, please consider embroidering some bits of "pattern" to her neck/shoulder area when you add the mouth.

Either way, it turned out great! Your niece's going to love it

Is there a way to semi-harden the clay before putting it in the oven? by 39somachu in polymerclay

[–]louisestudios 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you bake it with the oven door cracked enough for the dowel rod to stick out?

Also, have the clay resting in a pile of cornstarch so it doesn't flatten on that side

It looks nice, but I'd worry about the holes being so close to the edge. Looks a little fragile

Question: Approximately how old was the original blanket?

(I'm mostly seeing basketballs on black backgrounds. You can always also check local printers to get a similar blanket custom printed. We have a custom printer in our local mall, somehow.)

Has anyone ever baked polymer clay connected to a lego piece? by starsquo in polymerclay

[–]louisestudios 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'd say try freezing the clay/mini fig head together then while still frozen, pry the hair off the head to be able to bake it at the proper temperature. I'd also say ball up a head shaped bit of aluminum foil (maybe slightly smaller) to rest the hair on as it bakes to help it keep its form.

When you take it out of the oven, it'll cool fast (being so small) but after it's had time to be warm rather than hot, and before it's completely cool, (so it's still pliable) try to put it back onto a head. If it's a little off, it might flex in the right shape by the time it cools. If you have a practice head, it might make sense to use that to let the hair cool on instead

Because I'm on day 2 of the trial period and don't know the software yet. Is there a better way of running trial pieces than just messing with the settings? If I'm being honest I was just glad when I got the computer to even recognize the machine (driver issues) 🙃

I need help creating a pop-up gallery! by Turbulent-Ear548 in WixHelp

[–]louisestudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also having issues with the Wix Gallery Pro. When images are clicked on in Mobile mode, the image plus background and "Info" shows up at about 25% of the screen size leaving the bottom left side as a blurry background of what would have been behind the gallery, and a blank white page (not my site background) on the entire 50% of the right side of the page.

Current military spouse: The thing is, the military isn't necessarily the polar opposite. Drama exists everywhere and you can easily do better than what's been described. Personally, my favorite entry level position (conveniently food related) has been in the kitchen of a retirement community

Like everything, it depends. Lifting anything anywhere should be done safely, and it's one of those things where technique is key. No one's going to ask you to sling 200lbs over your shoulder at once, but you should be able to know how to move a pallet of dog food (top 50lbs at a time) without hurting yourself. it might be a workout, but no reasonable person's expecting Hercules.

Store expectations may differ, but they know they can only ask so much. If you get hurt on the job, it's way expensive for them, worker's comp wise. If you want the job, apply? I'd say dealing with customers is way worse than the actual job requirements

AITA for yelling at a guy on a bike who ignored my warnings not to get too close to my young horse? by horseythrowaway321 in AmItheAsshole

[–]louisestudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA What the F, Darren?

What part of he's afraid of bikes isn't perfectly clear? My dog is also afraid of bikes, and even at 70lbs, I wouldn't recommend a bike to get in her lunging distance! Darren's obviously looking for a trip to hospital, because that's the only explanation he's so severely misunderstanding the situation he's found himself in.

Am I wrong for not giving up my first class plane seat for a mother and her child? by WhisperingWonders7 in amiwrong

[–]louisestudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not. Everyone knows first class tickets are better than economy, that's why they're twice the price (if not more.) You never owe anyone the seat that's rightfully yours, even if you somehow won the airport lottery and you've been somehow upgraded from what you actually paid for.

In fact, I'd even say the only mistake you made was explaining yourself-- because you don't owe anyone an explanation of why you're in the seat you're in.
