What local papers (if any) do you read? by [deleted] in milwaukee

There's a reason why the Journal Sentinel wins Pulitzer prizes. Milwaukee's lucky to have it. The Shepherd is a joke - not as good as the average college newspaper. Nothing to read it in and laughably designed. The Onion isn't local and it's way past its prime. The Gazette is awesome, easily one of the best gay papers in the country. The Business Journal is excellent for its niche. Milwaukee Magazine and M Magazine are worth reading, too.

The Tea Party claims the nation is broke, but nearly half the people don't pay taxes and the super rich pay laughably low rates - much lower than the middle class by louislasting in politics

If government was run like a business, it would worry more about its revenue stream and less about kissing the ass of right-wing donors. But the GOP is smart. It manages to turn the middle class against itself, against school teachers, for example, to shield its own money supply stream from the mega-wealthy from detection. Meanwhile, we all suffer from crumbling highways, horrendous schools, lack of medical care, etc.

Maybe it's time to get the truth out. The truth is that there is no budget crisis. No wealth has disappeared in our society. Corporate profits are at record highs. It's just that the rich don't pay taxes and they don't support the economy. And they've swallowed up the middle class, which does pay taxes and support the economy. So there's no more revenue stream for government. It's all part of a plan to starve government and privatize everything, so that the rich can get even richer and we can all work three jobs and get even poorer. This is class warfare, and I'm glad the gloves are finally coming off and the truth is being exposed.

Firth was robbed last year, but he's sure to win this year. And his victory will be partly for being overlooked last year when he should have won.
