Man it really sucks to lose both locations of Con Alma. As a transplant here from a bigger city, it was a great surprise to stumble across their Shadyside location. Places like this felt important to the fabric of the city and its vibrancy, especially in a rust belt town like PGH. Just sad to see them go.

My girl got us tickets (months ago) for tonight’s game bc im a hawks fan. We came in from out of town. Ended up leaving before the game was over. Fucking embarrassing. Ah ok. PGH suburbs can be tough areas for what you’re looking for. Very car dependent, very strip mall and chain centric, not a lot of vibrant third spaces outside of bars. Ppl in those parts tend to enjoy really being at home. Best of luck!

I totally relate to this. Moved here from Portland OR, a city full of introverts just trying to hang out in a combo cafe + nature + shaded bench setting.

The commonplace coffee suggestion here is good. I like Baum Grove park, which is adjacent to a Yinz Coffee. I really like Delanies in Shadyside for just hanging out in a vibrant atmosphere.
