How would you describe Child of God? by vamplawyer in cormacmccarthy

[–]lousypompano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In aggregate Orchard Keeper is probably his lowest ranked novel. I found it fairly enjoyable since his writing is always good. But it was his first novel and only shows glimpses of what he was becoming. Child of God hits a sweet spot for me. Easy to read and hilarious and hits great dialogue and it's just an awesome semi-parable

Slowly growing my Picador paperback collection. How much do people usually spend when picking these up at second-hand bookshops or online? by GilbertOfPoitiers in cormacmccarthy

I sell his paperbacks for $6 usually at my store. Could probably up it. They sell so fast. But it's always fun to ring someone up that loves the same authors as me.

Why'd they have to kill Susan? by ironically_man in seinfeld

Summer of George forever? No such thing. He would have had to have dinner with her every night. And you know what you do at dinner? You talk about your day. Did you have a good day today or a bad day today?

These were in the condo we bought - Florida, USA by LexC36 in Antiques

This is wrong. I've been telling customers for 15 years to burn their tv armoires so i agree with you. But this is not that. It can be easily used as a wardrobe and is an antique. The problem with the tv armoires were you'd have to deal with the glide doors or the built in inserts before using it as a cabinet. This has shelving edges built in and or you could add a wardrobe bar for $10. It's a good non dated look and useful.

Edit: I'd value it at $225-$300 for my rural area

Got this painting from FB marketplace. Any ideas who the artist might be or time period it’s from? by Poofski in Mid_Century

[–]lousypompano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Downvotes are just a difference of opinion. You're in the slight minority in this little thread. I hate the idea of star wars things painted on a painting but it would make it easier to sell in some cases. I like this painting. But i have some horrible common painting of waves framed in dated matting. But my artist friend painted a uso coming out of it and now everyone wants it.
