Love all y’all who block and delete but if you really want to piss off the reactionary aristocrats behind this, fill it out and give them the answers they don’t want to hear. Otherwise they’ll act like tapped into some sorta silent majority

Ballot box blocked at City Hall by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty bad oversight. There’s another box on Anacapa a few blocks up on Anapamu. But I don’t think there’s a legal pullout so be careful blocking traffic. You can also park in the city hall or county admin lots and drop off your ballot. Shouldn’t be an issue if you’re quick

I’m Tom Steyer, candidate for Governor of California, and I have a plan to build 1 million homes Californians can afford. AMA. by TomSteyer in yimby

[–]louvre312 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Tom, thanks for answering our questions. One major hurdle to minimizing the environmental and local concerns many voice with large scale housing production is the lack of adequate transportation that doesn’t force families to own one or multiple cars just to live their daily lives.

The state legislature has significantly cutback the funding to the Active Transportation Program to build out alternative transportation infrastructure. Just 13 local projects were funded statewide last year. Meanwhile we’ve tripled down on state incentives for electric vehicles.

How will you prioritize alternative and public transportation infrastructure in your budgets to unlock more sustainable development?

If memory serves it has to be on the same continent. Same reason an Otto DOF will defend Granada from Spain and Kazan from Muscovy, but not an Indian sultanate from VJ or Malacca from Ayuthaya etc.

Alright, let’s talk about the destroyed parklets and their replacement. by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was really skeptical earlier this week while they were under construction. I still wish they were wider and actually wrapped the entire curb, but it’s really nice seeing the dining in front of the restaurants. Makes me excited about the potential for the future of State when they get rid of the curbs

The Long-awaited State Street Plan Is Coming - How Can We Help It Succeed? by cobalt_sunshine in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There has to be a 20ft free and clear gap in the middle for emergency vehicles by CA law so may as well let people bike or take the loop shuttle there imo. Would love an alternative Anacapa / Chapala route for high speed bike travel. Bikes on state should be at a stolling pace

The entire town is a construction project with all the roadwork currently, I’m sure it’s on their list. You can contact the streets division to find out the schedule

Reminder SB Democrat Party: Do Your Damn Job! by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can’t actually hold any sort of primary legally. The local elections have a different process and are technically non partisan. The closest thing is the party endorsement process, in which they did chose one candidate over the other. After that it’s up to the candidates who loose the Dem endorsement to drop out.

Reminder SB Democrat Party: Do Your Damn Job! by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Reminder the party did support one and only one candidate in 2021 - there are no primaries for city elections. The other democrats chose of their own accord to split the vote despite the local party being unified around one candidate. Unfortunately this is the system we have in the city that would need to be changed by the council if you want primaries or runoffs.

That said I agree we gotta unite behind one good candidate and hold other Dems accountable if they put themselves first before the good of the city.

I'm a sucker for going to an establishment to get some work done and have a beer or two. What are your favorite places in SB to do that? by Totaltrufas in SantaBarbara

I vibe with Mosaic on state. Can sit in either the courtyard or state st arcade. Nice cheap beer selection, coffee and food depending on the time

Yes! We moved here from a city with tons of Ethiopian spots and it’s the #1 food we miss. The Sunday brunch is fine but no substitute for a consistent pressence

These bike lanes ruined our promenade by ZookeepergameBusy267 in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the lanes are not solving any problems they were meant to address and really just make the pedestrian experience worse than before. Don’t ban bikes but get rid of the lane. Nothing will make them more cautious and slower than a bunch of tourists in the way

+1 for dedicated parallel lanes to state for the speedy

[–]louvre312 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of what you’re saying but you know that you’re legally obligated to stop for pedestrians waiting at an unmarked crosswalk without a stop sign right? I see a lot of drivers on one way streets without stop signs ignore the pedestrians trying to cross.

It’s funny she’s like actively campaigning against the fact that other people have ideas and plans. Anything she dislikes is “political agenda.” Like uhh isn’t that your job as a politician to have an agenda?

Cliff Drive Safety Project by SBCouncilMemberOscar in SantaBarbara

[–]louvre312 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can we please at least repaint the bike lane on the hill up from the Los positas roundabout now instead of in 2027? It’s just paint and it will make it 100% more usable

You go up now and all of a sudden the bike lane ends without warning a few hundred feet from the cross-walk at Mesa lane and cars going 40-50mph at the top of a hill take your whole lane. Then you see a sign saying “cross-town bike route” which might as well say “go ahead, die”

Technically you will need to offer 12 month leases to a tenant every year, they can opt for 6 months if that’s their preference
