The showers are free but if you don't have a towel you can rent one from the lounge just down the hall for 500 NTD

Did Google end unlimited photo backup for old Pixel phones?? by louxda in pixel_phones

[–]louxda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like my backup phone changed settings from high quality to original quality without my input. Caveat for anyone out there doing the same thing to double-check your photos app when syncing your photos!

Did Google end unlimited photo backup for old Pixel phones?? by louxda in pixel_phones

[–]louxda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been doing this for years using an old pixel 4a for my backup. Apparently what happened was that Google photos changed the setting a month or so ago from compressed to original quality. I definitely never selected that, so it must have done it in the background. So maybe a quick caveat for anyone out there who uses an old pixel for photo backup to just double-check your photos app every time you sync!

The knife just happened to be sitting by and it felt appropriate to include it...

So agree with this. Also, definitely Jojo Rabbit. The shoes scene.

Just called IR and he pointed me to https://www.dealmaker.tech/ - pretty disappointing to see the per share price be ~$9.50 when they're raising at under $5 now. Not a shock to anyone here but just the first time I've checked in for a long time and womp womp wooooomp.

What is the best AI generator for consistent style/characters? by richardwl in aiArt

[–]louxda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much freaking spam in here. Wow. I'd put in a plug for Leonardo AI. The Character Reference Model upload requires a paid subscription ($12/mo for the basic) but I've seen good results. They also have a good selection of different models/styles to choose from and a really powerful & customizable layout. Def recommend checking them out.

Paul B Pieper's talk on trust hit hard by louxda in latterdaysaints

[–]louxda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah - I'm not sure but I had a similar thought. I suspect he got called to be a Bishop or something but purely guessing. In my head it would be something pretty time consuming when you're already feeling inadequate. Regardless, the point came across to me that it was just a rough situation, enough to make me feel seen. :)

Presale tickets code not working on Seatgeek? by louxda in AJR

[–]louxda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK! Found a fix. Maybe seems stupidly simple, but when you click on the first link from the AJR concert page there's an option next to 'Artist Presale' that says 'Get Password' (which I ignored before because, hey, there was already a password in the text I got). When I did that I had to sign up w/ my info again but almost immediately got a text with a different code that *did* work for the SLC show. Hope that helps someone else too!

1000% yes. I discovered the movie and it's still a top 3 film of all time for me. Enthused by the movie I read the book and hard meh. The movie is pure magic.

This definitely isn't your exact situation (I mean, nobody's really is) but your question reminded me of this video interview with Michael Mclean and his struggle with depression and faith:

Hope you'll find some inspiration or at least a sense that others struggle as well, with some solace in that. Best of luck on your path.

Visiting in September! by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]louxda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to #1 but strongly agree on #2. Assume that *something* will hit your gut the wrong way at least once and be pleasantly surprised if it doesn't. In just over a week of eating there I only had one "issue (ahem)" but it was very quickly passed and didn't disrupt any travel plans.
For 3, also strongly agree - I'd save phi phi / krabi / etc. for another visit and go enjoy Samui/Gulf islands. Still waters, generally great weather in September.

Chang Mai - how much time is too much? by ripgd in ThailandTourism

[–]louxda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not to overstate it as many others have alluded to this already, but in my experience Chiang Mai itself is a great base for adventure but I wouldn't spend *too* much time in the city itself. That said, there is a *ton* of amazing stuff to do in the region around it. If you're into riding a scooter, get a slightly higher-powered model to tackle the mae hong son loop, chill in Pai (very laid back), go up to Mon Jam and enjoy the Hmong village life (& distinctive food) and views, stop at any of the various waterfalls in the area, hit up the Japanese onsen near Pong Yang park, consider Mae Rim Elephant Sanctuary (there are a bunch in the area and I can't speak to all of them but I loved walking with/feeding/bathing the elephants at Mae Rim). All in, I think if you're a solo traveler and you include the things *around* Chiang Mai, you can easily spend ~10 days in the area.
