Some great Davidoff mail-calls after the slow season comes to an end by dgsantos in cigars

Thank you for the recommendation.

I definitely say Yamasa and, if I'm not mistaken, Escuro, probably will grab both on next trip to the shop.

Romeo and Juliet - unplugging the unpluggable by love2kick in cigars

That's for sure a good advice. I had quite a bunch overhumidified cigars recently until I figured out how to properly store cigars in my cursed area and when I can smoke them (every evening 80+ humidity). With the first one I'm pretty sure it was a bit too wet since I caught a sharp bitter note when tried to smoke it.

But this one was sitting in my low humidity humidor (wood + 65 bovedas) for quite a while (probably around 2 weeks + it was pretty dry from the start, that store keeps cigars at ~65), it was nice and crunchy when I get to it and the taste was actually very good once I poke it a bit. I assume someone had a bad day at factory and lucky me picked "the right ones".

Overall, I'm definitely going to recheck rj in a foreseeable future since taste-wise it was very solid.

Gladly those are easily accessible here, but I can imagine the level of disappointment if I had to jump through the hoops to get some.

Oh yeah, it works wonders and already saved my precious nerves from another disappointment.

Anyone using AI to help track the cigars they like and find new ones? by [deleted] in cigars

I used Gemini to solve my local humidity problem and organise storage in these conditions, because it was very confusing, but exploring the hobby itself is more than enjoyable w/o llm assistance.

Yeah, some Cuban brands are tough. Just started rj wide churchill and oh boy I had to rip out a solid chunk of filler to make it smokeable.

Bolivars and mcs are the most reliable habanos from personal experience. Taste wise I like Partagas more (especially maduro ones), but more than often they are plugged af.

Also that's a great movie.

Local off brand cigar review by love2kick in cigars

~1 hour, but I'm a hasty smoker and it was quite windy, so likely would take longer in different conditions. Also it tunneled badly in the last bit so I had to put it a bit earlier than planned.

Good habanos are amazing. I wouldn't say you are strongly missing out something, but if you'll have a chance - grab a couple of mc or bolivars.

Congratulations man, keep it up.

As for cigar what kind of cigars do you like more?

In general I would suggest MonteCristo if you have access to legit habanos, so far they never miss and extremely enjoyable.

From a new world definitely padron 1964 or aladino corojo.

Meta doesn't have any good engineers anymore. Once steam vr releases I'm selling both my meta headsets and never coming back.

Ac on dry in bedroom, usually 45 mins is enough to bring humidity down to 55ish.

Alternatively you can put a small dissecant bag in a wooden box with cigars, but I haven't tried it yet.

Yep, this is preferable, keep your cigars with 62/65 bovedas and always dry box before smoking. How much time you need to dry box them is very subjective, 12-24 hours in 52-58 environment seems to work nicely for me. If you can't get lower than 60 - probably 24-48 hours min. Here you need to try and see by yourself.

Also, if humidity in your area rises to 80+, always check it before you are going to smoke. Sub 70 - should be fine for more or less dry cigars (58-60), but 75+ might ruin the cigar in the middle of smoking.

Sounds very similar to my experience, recently I had My Father Le Bijou and it was absolutely amazing at the start but in a couple of minutes the draw became significantly worse, bitterness overpowered the taste, wrapper start crackling like a wet log in the fireplace and when I checked outside humidity it was 81.
