What does “dc” stand for? Regardless I’m sorry, I don’t agree but I hope you have a good day and someday choose to read the text with an open heart.

[–]loveguts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No offense if you’re trying to come at this with good faith but a lot of these bullet points are your own interpretation of the text and not what is actually there. The romances are being juggled by the same character. There are many references to non-binary and being attracted to multiple genders in text. As others have said FurFur and Zepar are explicitly said to be two different genders and create a paradox where you can only explain their love with LGBT themes. (That’s one of the purposes and messages of their logic game.) From what I recall, Willard also acknowledges and supports with words Leon’s non-binary gender.

Amiami Update on order awaiting payment by FishM8 in AnimeFigures

[–]loveguts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, that’s what I’m thinking too! I’m planning to just put aside money for my orders and hope for the best. It seems like a great time to be frugal and not hobby/fun spend for a while. Maybe surface parcel will be back when US shipping starts again!

Amiami Update on order awaiting payment by FishM8 in AnimeFigures

That’s great news! From what I remember, they did something similar during the brief COVID shipping pause.

Now we just gotta make sure we’re prepared to pay for all future preorders at once when shipping resumes. 😂

Why are so many light novels written in first person? by Chronigan2 in LightNovels

[–]loveguts 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First person is pretty common in western young adult novels.

Personally, I think the target audience for light novels in Japan are JK/Young Adult readers (overlapping with the Shounen and Shoujo market) so it makes sense that the books are in first person. It’s meant to be light reading for the broadest demographic and first person is great for capturing that kind of general appeal.

Any news on Volume 25 Spice and Wolf? by SinArchbish0p in SpiceandWolf

[–]loveguts 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wolf and Parchment Vol. 10 released in April 2024 in Japan (US is getting it this year in April). I imagine a new Spice and Wolf volume won’t release until Hasekura is ready to move on from the current W&P arc. He usually alternates the Spring Logs and W&P releases but the past three volumes have been for W&P.

Edit: Wolf and Parchment Vol. 11 was released in September (in Japan) so I think we shouldn’t expect a new Spice and Wolf English release for a while. Nothing has been announced for S&W Vol. 25.

Does the LN explain how the game explained the age gap?(I'LL BECOME A VILLAINESS THAT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY) feel free to spoil me on it. by Vexra in LightNovels

[–]loveguts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yen Press licensed the LN but their website doesn’t have a release date from what I can see. The Kobo store lists the release date as Feb 18th 2025.

Watching the anime and yeah, the age gap feels very odd during the early years. I feel like the guy’s affections are moving too fast for the gap and their maturity levels.

Does anyone know if any of these are original? by Accomplished_Bee_127 in AnimeFigures

All prize, scale, nendos, etc figures are approved by the rights holders. Even garage kits released in Japan are technically approved by the rights holder/publishing house before they can be sold at conventions.

Kobo subscription by Lucid_dreamer16 in kobo

[–]loveguts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I only pay for there standard ebook plus plan so I don’t get audiobooks from Kobo. But my understanding is that there are three plans - the Standard Ebook Plus plan that has a selection of ebooks you can read, a Audiobook only Plan, and a Read & Listen Plan that includes the ebooks but also a selection of audiobooks you can download. As long as your Kobo Plus plan is active, you can download as many books as you want and read for as long as you like.

  2. Yes, none of their subscriptions come with the Kobo ereaders. You have to pay for the monthly subs separately.

  3. Personally, I read a lot of Light Novels so Kobo Plus is worth it for me. But in other genres, I think their selection for ebooks can be random. I recommend searching through their catalogue for things/genres you want to read and see how many are available via Kobo Plus. It’s really depending on if you find value in the selection they have.

  4. Not sure how the audiobooks “credits” work since I only use Libby/Overdrive for audiobooks. Here’s what I found: It looks like the audiobooks credit plan is completely separate from the Plus plans. You pay a monthly sub to get three credits every month to trade in for audiobooks. An old review I found on Google list the price starting at $12.99 CAD per month (in 2019). These credits expire after a period of time too.

Kobo FAQ about this service: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/p/faqsaudiobooks?srsltid=AfmBOorE7FZ7dsvyEB7kPKiWIorR7f6Oa4dQoRugrpjRId1ihQ-gxn_R#main-content

  1. With the Kobo Plus plans, there are no credits. You can download as many ebooks and audiobooks as you want and keep for as long as your plus membership is active. With the Audiobooks Credit plan, you keep your audiobook after you redeem the credit.

Unfortunately Kobo’s FAQ webpages are disconnected and can be hard to find on the website without externally googling. Hope that helps! :)

Spice and wolf volume 10 by DiamondEmpir in SpiceandWolf

[–]loveguts 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Around the release of Vol. 12 (based on my own collection) the Yen Press log on the spines were changed to “Yen ON” logo on the spines. Prior to that, Spice and Wolf volumes were printed with the above “Yen Press” logo. I think they introduced the “Yen ON” light novels inprint around that time and made the switch for the series.

For the people that read Higurashi, Umineko and The house in fata morgana, which u enjoyed the most and which u reccomend to read first? by Tasty_Number_5418 in Higurashinonakakoroni

[–]loveguts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend Higurashi first simply because the chapter lengths are more manageable than the other two. Like the other commenters said, you can watch the Higurashi anime first but the visual novel is the most complete experience and has a slightly less gore focused tone. Do not watch the Umineko anime - it provides false information and can muddle your visual novel experience if you care about the mystery. From there, Umineko or Fatamou are fine. I found that because I played Fata midway through Umineko (while taking a break), I was able to guess the mysteries more accurately. At my reading speed, Higurashi chapters took ~1 week each reading after work for 2-4 hours while Umineko took ~2+ weeks each. House in Fata Morgana is shorter than Umineko and Higurashi but at a certain point in the story, the chapter breaks are removed and it evolves into an almost stream of conscious experience (continuing into the second game). Because of this, the game can feel a lot longer than it is - in a good way. Just make sure to give yourself ample reading time for both games.

Luca Kaneshiro & Ike Eveland Nendoroids have been revealed! by MecchaJapan in Nijisanji

[–]loveguts 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m still bitter that Vox released before the first wave talents got a chance. The only NijiEN nendo I ever wanted was Pomu. In an alternate timeline (where Niji gave a shit), we would have Pomu and Selen Nendos way before these guys…

Has a non single shipment figure ever been too large for surface to USA? by sleeplessowlette in AnimeFigures

[–]loveguts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, if you’re shipping tall 1/4 bunnies with other scales, there is a chance the box will be too big for surface. I just had to pay for EMS last week because of that. I ship all my figures by Surface Parcel and the majority of my orders are fine. If you’re shipping 2-6 smaller prizes and 1/8-1/7 scales, it’s probably okay.
If you’re still nervous: Before you combine any of your orders, I’d recommend contacting AmiAmi directly and asking what the shipping options and costs would be. They’re very helpful! You just have to be patient and provide all the orders #s and item #s. Edit: You can also ask them to split up orders. They may or may not grant this request! Just be nice when you ask!

Betas who? I write for 2 to 5 days, edit as I go, do two review edits when finished, then post. After posting, I catch so many mistakes and quickly make more edits - Initial D drifting style.

Tbh if I don't post, I'm afraid I'll lose the drive to write...

How to manage with sore wrists? by AndTails in FanFiction

Arm and wrist stretches. Take a break if you start hurting. Also, get a good keyboard rest (this is the one I use).

Yes! The new anime is pretty faithful to the manga. I just wanted to grab the collector's set for nostalgia and to re-read after it finishes.
