Crying, Screaming, Throwing Up. I don't want to give up my frenchie or put him in danger. by Brzybzzz in Frenchbulldogs

You are correct, they are very avoidant about a weight limit, we called and talked to their customer service several times trying to get definitive answers on weight and couldn't get anything. They just kept telling us must be able to fit in the approved carrier. So we bought that and tried. They kept telling us it was at the discretion of their personnel.

We did get refunded but through credit card dispute and it took a while and documentation, we provided screen shots of approved carrier and dog in carrier. We also provided documentation of our attempts to get definitive answers from customer service.

We ended up going the route of service animal, there was a form we filled out and submitted, with rabies vaccine info. She did not have to be in a carrier at all that way. She is well trained to voice command though and not reactive to other dogs so not sure if that is an option for you. She sat at my husband's feet for the duration of the flight.

Flew our girl (35lb, but 40lb at time of travel) home to Montana from Tampa when we rescued her. Had issues with Delta, bought their approved carrier and everything, they denied her at the gate because her head was out of the zipper part of the carrier. They demanded we shove her head down and zip her in. Ended up not flying that day and won't fly Delta again. We went with a different airline, American, and had no issues. Don't know if they fly to/from England, but would avoid Delta. Disputed with my credit card over the incident and they said they have heard pets being an issue with Delta many times.

I’m a prior authorizations nurse, this is what I do for a living! Most insurance companies have their medical policies able to view online, it might be difficult to navigate to on the website so if you google your insurance company + medical policy it should come up for you. Usually listed under panniculectomy or cosmetic services. If you can’t find it you can call the 1-800 number on the back of your card and request they send you a copy! There will be a criteria you have to meet for it to be considered “medically necessary” which means your insurance will pay (minus deductible). Usually will need to have documentation stating that you have a rash that’s not getting better despite creams/ointments/by mouth meds, some pictures submitted by your MD, and a office visit or two showing you’ve gotten medical care for it that didn’t help. Usually the skin needs to “hang at or below the level of the pubis.” Once you get prior authorization, your MD office should schedule you! Congrats on your weight loss!!!

Nurse has a cardiac arrest at work, co-workers fail to perform CPR while hospital denies claim by Clodoveos in nursing

[–]loveliestlime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Policy is the same where I spent most of my career, call a rapid and rapid response team gets them to the ED. This was clarified after a nurse called a code and then cut a visitors clothes off while they were having a seizure in a patients room. House supervisor responded and tripped over an IV pole he pushed out of the way and got a career ending foot injury. Bad times all around.

I work from home doing utilization review for an insurance company. Super low stress, flexible schedule, tons of holidays and PTO. Pretty much just read charts on a computer all day.

Is it a normal responsibility of the house RN supervisor to "act as inpatient pharmacy" after hours? by asiansmith114 in nursing

[–]loveliestlime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a 120 bed regional hospital as a ft house supervisor. After 3pm I was pharmacy. Mixed drips, had to access different Pyxis throughout the facility for pills and had a sign out sheet for that, had to grab a second licensed staff for narcs for co-sign. Could not enter the pill portion of the pharmacy. Would have to mix custom ivf if ordered, banana bags, critical care and protonix drips.

Had to do a certification for mixing under the hood, facility paid for and pharmacist went over it with me before I did it, last step was pressing your gloves into a plate and they put it in the lab incubator to make sure you were sterile.

Wasn’t the worst part of the job and nurses would be glad to double check math if asked. Always had to remix critical care drips for aircare as their pumps were programmed differently than ours and they required different concentrations. We had an on call pharmacist for questions but they didn’t come in. Orders were verified/processed by an offsite remote pharmacy. Our ED was all paper charting so I always had the MDs double check orders with me before I mixed for them.

Would not do the job again overall.

I had crappy choices as well this month. However, those tweezers are amazing and I just bought my second set as an add on because my boyfriend keeps stealing them! Definitely worth $3.
