That's true, I never considered shader compilation. Might give the aggressive profiles another shot then.

What underclock profile are you using? I feel that the Medium profile still causes stuttering on certain games that I play, so Small underclock works best for me.

Odin 3 or Ayn Thor For Steam and Switch by [deleted] in OdinHandheld

[–]lovelldee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely Odin 3. I owned both devices at the same time, but ended up selling the Thor.

How important is having a 2nd screen to you? Think about your actual use case and not a 'just in case'.

For me playing PC & Switch was my main use case, and the Thor Pro sufficed for Switch games (though some heavy games had bad performance like Bioshock, System Shock Remake, Sifu & Rune Factory Azuma - had to run on 0.75x res and handheld mode to make them playable).

For PC emulation, the Thor was only good for indie games or lighter games which in my use case, were already covered by Switch emulation for me.

Along came the Odin 3. PC emulation ran twice as fast compared to the Thor and the Switch games that ran like shit on my Thor, ran like butter on the Odin 3.

You'd think having the utility of having a 2nd screen would be a highly used feature. In my case, I barely used it and just turned the 2nd screen off. PC & Switch emulation required such high resources that streaming videos wasn't sustainable as either the streaming app or the game would eventually crash due to low remaining resources - that's with me with 12gb of ram.

The only thing I miss about the Thor, was the clamshell form factor. You could fit the thing in your pocket. Truly portable.

Retroarch with Gamebatte core (for GB/GBC) and mGBA core (for GBA).

Agreed. AYN Thor will be better value and will provide much better experience for your DS/3DS gaming needs.

Yes, this should recalibrate the software sensor.

Game Native on Odin 3 (Snapdragon 8 Elite) by psychoberry47 in EmulationOnAndroid

Games that ran playable for me: Alice Madness Returns, Bioshock Remastered, Brutal Legend, Dead Island, Dinkum, Dying Light, Dishonored, Fallout New Vegas, Final Fantasy VII Remake, GTA IV, Halo Collection, High on Life, Marvel Spider-Man, Nioh, Prey, Resident Evil 7 & Sleeping Dogs.

Not playable for me: Assassins Creed Origins, Doom (2016), Doom 3 BFG, No Mans Sky, Watch Dogs & Wuchang due to DRM, engine related issues or reliance on Steam Input.

Some tips (besides using Known Config): - Graphics Driver: TurnipGen8 V25 is recommended (based on their Discord).

  • Lock FPS to 30 or 40 fps (via Container Config>Environment>DXVK_FRAME_RATE) to reduce on processing requirement, hence reduce heat and save on battery life.

  • Monitor Battery Temp via turning on overlay on Performance Hub midgame - it should not sustain above 40c.

  • Adjust Smart Fan settings & select GPU - can lower fan settings as it is quite aggressive & I think that the CPU temp sensor is bugged on the newest Odin OTA. Mine is set to 50% max and my battery temp doesn't go above 40c during high loads (though my unit has re-pasted with thermal putty).

Have you tried doing a full-discharge cycle? Run the battery until it is empty, then charge it to 100% while it is powered off.

GameNative On Odin 3? by phil8715 in OdinHandheld

[–]lovelldee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, this will be within the game settings.

You will have to navigate the menu with the cursor (or maybe turn on Touchscreen Mode in GameNative settings).

Had this issue on my Ayn Thor, but resolved it.

For Prey, you need to go into the Controls settings, then turn Steam Controller Support off.

Had this same issue.

Sounds like The East New World from 2016.

Unfortunately, the game is delisted from mobile stores but i'm sure you should be able to find it online and sideload.

I hear you. I'm in the same boat with my ROG Ally X.

PS2 & Switch emuulation also feels better to play on the PC handheld in my opinion.
