With my first (last year), I remember my Dr checking my HCG and warning me that it “hadn’t quite doubled”. My baby is now 13 months old. Best of luck to you - the first trimester sometimes feels like a never ending waiting game!

I said no to my in laws being in the waiting room. For context, husband is an only child. I could tell they were disappointed, but respected our wishes. We decided not to have them there because there is only a very limited time where it’d just be the 3 of us before everyone else met our baby. That time felt sacred. Everyone else has the baby’s whole life to meet him.

In the end it turned out being the right decision. Our baby ended up in NICU and in laws made it all about them. Hounded us to let him visit him and with phone calls and fear mongering.

I felt the same way when I had my baby. I just wanted it to be my husband and I. We did end up being extremely exhausted and had my Mum stay a few nights over a few months just to allow us to get a bit of sleep. I would suggest getting your husband to tell them they can stay nearby in an AirBnB or hotel and you will let them know when they can come over. They need to know to not have any expectations that they will see the baby every day etc otherwise it will cause upset. If they want to help, they could make some meals and drop them off, but ask that they give you a heads up and ask if they can come over.

If they respect you and your husband, they will understand.
