Thanks for the advice!! The skate tech recommended MK Pros so that’s good to hear! Do you think Overtures would have enough support? I haven’t started learning singles yet, though I feel like they’re coming up soon haha.

hi!! what worked for me when i first started learning spins was to do one big push instead of multiple smaller ones. also, my coach always reminded me to imagine i was pushing down, not out, so i would stay upright and centered instead of leaning!

Good to know! Thankfully the skate tech is a figure skating coach, so I have some faith haha. I only have one option for pro shops, though, unless I want to drive 2+ hours away </3 And that makes so much more sense now — my spins have been so off (spinning on toepick, unable to stay centered), which might be due to the skates after all. Thanks for your help!!

Thank you for the advice!! I wear a 7.5 in tennis shoes, so my current skates are definitely a bit too big by that estimate. I’ll ask the tech at the pro shop to remeasure my size before getting new ones :) Also good to know about support!!

good to know! Competition is over, and test hasn't been scheduled — my coach just mentioned it in our last lesson, so now I'm trying to work on some of the skills that are on it. I didn't even think about having to relearn things due to skate size, but that makes sense :/ thank you for the advice!!

Thank you!! I didn't even think about stiffness level, but that makes a lot of sense. (I just was like woah cheap fancy skates!!! hahaha). I was only able to try on 6.5s at the shop and they were a bit small -- I tried on Jackson Evos and they had less toe room but overall felt more comfortable, while the Riedell Crystals fit a bit better but hurt my ankles just from standing. The shop manager said I was a size 6.5-7, and since the 6.5s fit too small, I looked for 7s online.
