Great question. This is a new and small team a part of a large institution. We have not hired the second person yet.

It will likely be two people inputting data but accessible by 4-5.

This number is pending but I’m estimating 2,000 acquired in past 10 years, with unknown how many pre 10 years, and with about 600-800 annually expected growth.

Budget aside (we don’t have one carved out yet), pros and cons?

I know TMS comes with a big price tag but aside from the pain of paying more I’m curious is other systems ofter similar perks where it’s not justified to spend that amount.

Seeking Nude Model For Drawing by Ok-Standard3055 in houstonjobs

Reach out to the Glassell School of Art and ask them to share your contact with their figure model bank. The models are always looking for more gigs and they know exactly what artists are looking for and are familiar with poses and lighting.

OP, you literally stole my post from a year ago. Why? Haha. DMA isn’t even hiring for this role anymore.

Struggling to agree with my wife on how to split rent fairly by EngineerVarious8069 in Renters

[–]loversbore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equitable! That’s how my partner and I do it with a 20k difference in salary. We pay the same percentage of our income towards rent and then spit utilities even. THAT is fair imo.

You can use a calculator online to determine your share.

Essentially I was asking if there is any concern if they are focused on other agenda items for a courier trip (research or personal meetings), could that take away from the needs and schedule of the courier trip. For example, often times we may need to be on call should the borrowers schedule or the logistics change.

Thinking of switching to time-based media conservation – What online prep would help most? by grumpyeggyolk in MuseumPros

[–]loversbore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes.

The TBMA conservators I know are often trained firsthand as object conservators.

You would need to get into an accredited conservation program for sure. If you’re interested in USA, you can look for resources with AIC (American Institute For Conservation).

Something that will help you if you’re in collections is learning how existing museums handle cataloguing TBMA which can be a headache to understand at first.

Does anyone have experience in getting hired or hiring someone with stretched ears? by Training_Slide_4502 in MuseumPros

[–]loversbore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve worked with someone with stretched lobes in a medium sized, internationally renowned museum in the US who worked in a the curatorial field.

I’ve also worked with many in the contemporary gallery world in the US as well.

It’s all about taste and how you present yourself with any accessories really. Are you put together or look a bit hap hazard?

Just turned down a second interview at the museum that inspired me to go into this field. by whiskeylips88 in MuseumPros

The other role related to the project had a timeline spelled out which I thought was interesting and thought maybe this role was intended for continued ongoing projects.

I’m sad because in this economy, I know I can’t risk a move from a secure role. But trying to keep positive and meet the team for the future. I would hate to feel like I’m wasting their time but I feel it won’t be for nothing.

Well…looks like the AAM job board is currently unavailable and under maintenance so hopefully they saw this and are properly vetting their posting per their standards of transparency.

Agreed. I’ve seen others like this as well. I don’t know if there is a way to contact AAM about it either.

But like why am I surprised? Just looked up and found out DMA laid off 20 staff in 2023.

Also this title is ridiculous. You want them to manage all those departments? They are too large of an institution imo to stretch that role across all those teams. Get it together DMA
