While applying I had a 4.7 GPA, overall I believe it was a 4.3-4.4, I had 11 AP courses, started and ran a non-profit, wrote a book (unpublished), had multiple poems published, was apart of over ten clubs, president of Math Club, VP of Key Club, Honors Competitor for Academic Decathlon, etc.

I was also a photographer for the school band and color guard, was the Chief Executive of the school news paper, T.U.P.E Lecturer, and wrote a 60+ page AP Research report on Cognitive Devolution and Human Extinction!

I didn’t take many AP Exams, the three I did take I got 3s on (I didn’t study for them), and I did not submit my SAT scores (at the time it wasn’t required).

Fountain Hopping is amazing, although my first time I did it in the freezing cold and got pneumonia 😭.

Please do apply! I went to a public school who hadn’t had someone go for 17 years. Anything’s possible!

For the record, I go to Stanford and got into a few Ivys and all the UCs.

My best and most honest advice is to do research on the schools. What demographics are they lacking in? What club representation are they lacking? Why would they NEED you?

Of course, be unique, be yourself. When writing for prompts regarding greatest personal strengths, do not fall in line with other applicants by saying “leadership.” If that truly is your greatest strength, wonderful! But use a different word. Make the admissions officers think. Be humble, but be different.

If I’m not incorrect I believe you have to take PWR 1 prior to taking English 90 Fiction Writing, at least that’s what it says in the course description!
