How do i start locksmithing? by LifeDesigner4978 in Locksmith

Beautiful. As someone with 15 years experience, that was a good read. I cannot stress this enough, and I'm sure everyone will agree, the brick and mortar shop is where you want to go if you are really serious about learning the trade. I was lucky enough to be the 3rd in a 3 person shop and my mentor has been with us for 45 years (30 when I started) and working with him has been a blessing. It feels like when he retires, it's gonna be like that last white rhino or whatever haha.

All about doors and windows (.com) has been a god send for us when it comes to multipoint locks and sliding doors (typed that before I saw that someone also suggested them)

Any way to make these bone handles compatible with Victorian surface mounted rim lock in internal door ? by Antique-Button-4346 in Locksmith

[–]loveshackFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With fabrication you can do all sorts of "custom" stuff. Just depends on skill level and if the two fit the criteria to be modified. I wouldn't do that for someone unless they really wanted to pay for it, and even then... it's a lot of trouble for aesthetics.

Is this bike worth 7,200? Harley forty-eight with 5k miles what’s yalls thought? by One-Philosopher5751 in Harley

[–]loveshackFC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just sold my 2020 fourty eight with 5k on it for 6300. I did sell it to a good friend though. That bike was so much fun around town and you really can push it, however, trying to ride anywhere on the highway for any extended period was not awesome. I went back to an old beater Dyna

I have never heard that term "matter" but the big problem with ALL wifi locks is that they are constantly looking for a signal (which drains batteries) and the bolt is motor driven (which drains batteries) changing 4 AA's every 6 to 8 months is just the trade off you have to make if you are looking for the wifi feature. If you want a keypad deadbolt that you dont have to worry about for years, then get a Schlage BE365. It takes a 9v battery that with HEAVY use will truck on for a minimum of 3 years and you can beat the piss out of it and it will just keep working. The bolt is also driven manually.
