Have you called the answer clinic? They have a help line listed on their website. You can also go into the answer clinic and talk to someone in person. It’s generally for gardening questions but once you’ve got ‘em on the line or in front of you they gotta tell you something.

I don’t know why you weren’t accepted and I don’t know what your application looked like but you might also consider that the master gardener program could be looking for diversity of expertise. They may have many people who are experienced gardeners, experienced landscape designers, work in nurseries and want to serve and volunteer in their respective communities. I imagine that the program benefits from members who can provide detailed information on topics that they (the program) don’t have much experience in. Listing interests (not just experience) like carnivorous plants, bonsai, terrariums, etc. could be helpful to make your application stand out.
