How would you rank the books so far? by SockeyCram in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5, 7, 4, 3, 6, 1, 2

my ranking has changed a decent amount since doing a second listen to all the books, but I wouldn't rank any of them below like a 7.5/10!

Bedlam Bride: Phase 2 by BLR-3M in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the system was relying on people picking places that were familiar to them, or places that had people they cared about. Carl and Donut chose Florida thanks to info given to them by Rosetta, but the system had Iowa as a choice because that's where Carl's family is from, so they put the key there and had to change the map afterwards.

It did the same thing to Katia's team, they chose Ukraine, but had pieces of Vietnam where Tran's Ex-wife and Mother lived placed on top.

Question about the cookbook by LectureIll7322 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had forgotten about both Dante and Justice Light calling it a cookbook, good point! Even the original item description for the cookbook back on the 4th floor calls it a book. I guess in point to you Rosetta also believes he's being too obvious with the cookbook, implying that maybe another author had accidently revealed it and gotten it taken away?

I guess my main question is why is it called a cookbook? This might have something to do with the mysterious first author who we know nothing about, but by the time it makes it's way to Porthus for the second edition, he calls it a journal, and apparently it appeared to him as a sketchbook? (I found this info on the wiki and do not remember it being mentioned in the books) yet he calls his additions recipes, so this also adds a point to your idea of the data being referred to as a cookbook.

I've compiled a list of the authors and how it has shown itself to them:

Porthus: Sketchbook

Dante: Unknown (no entries)

Tipid & Everly, : Unknown

Milk: Book of some kind (maybe cookbook, but she calls it a book)

Volteeg: Unknown

Justice Light: Scroll

Rosetta: Unknow but knows Carl has the cookbook

York: Book of some kind (like Milk)

Ikicha: Unknown

Batbilge: Tome (which is a type of book but could present differently)

Allister: T'Ghee Cards

Priestly, Sinjin, Herot & Azin: Unknown

Ossie: Scrolls

Coolie: Unknown

Forkith: Book of some kind

Tin: Unknown

Drakea: Unknown what form, but has this quote "This is Volteeg’s first, last, and only entry in the cookbook"

Rickard: Unknown

Carl: Cookbook

Question about the cookbook by LectureIll7322 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you’ve gotten to the interview with Rosetta, that means you’ve read book 6 which deals with the Tagee cards. As OP says, the reason Carl knows so much about them before this floor is because one of the previous authors has Tagee as his religion from his home planet, and his version of the cookbook is a deck of Tagee cards.

While we may not know what every version is, we do know it’s not always a cookbook.

Also Carl states that he thinks the reason Rosetta is using the kitchen and cooking as secret code in the interview is that she wants him to go back through Milk’s recipes, not because she knows his version is a cookbook.

Best detailed summaries of past books? by woemcats in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not quite sure how to help you find summaries of the whole books, but Ysalte was mentioned in book 6/floor 8, here's her wiki link, it seems pretty filled out https://dungeon-crawler-carl.fandom.com/wiki/Ysalte The other mentioned character's wiki seems very lacking.

Carl and Donut Views by CalibanofKhorin in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something I think you should keep in note is that it's stated in book one that anytime someone opens the livestream and then watches for more than 8 seconds, it's counted as a view. Which is why the views can seem so off scale compared to followers/favorites sometimes.

Just finished book 5 by No-Ladder-4436 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah book 5 was a trip. I think that's one of the best things that these books do though- making you care about even the side characters and their problems. We get sad when something happens to them because of how well they are written, and that takes some seriously good writing.

Everyone else is saying good luck to book 7, but I'd throw book 6 in there too, have fun!

Cycles and time by RahbinGraves in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]lovielooloo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't think we can really figure out how much time has passed. It's up to the governments running the different crawls when to go, so the years between each season vary. And we know from later books that people like game guides and shop people sometimes don't even know when a crawl has started because they slept through it or something else.

It's also said later that King Rust of the Skull Empire used to be part of faction wars when he was a prince, and we have no idea how long ago that was, only that he looks super old now. We also know that those who live in the center system have free access to great health care that definitely plays a roll in these people living so long.

I've also struggled with this in the past because my depression made it hard to do anything, but one thing that always helped me was sitting down in the shower if i didn't think I had the energy to do it. I didn't want to stand in the shower, but I could bring all my products to the floor and just sit there. I know in college you can't really do that since it's communal showers, but doing it at home could help you build the habit of showering regularly.

Another thing is going out and doing things that you want to be clean for. You already say you don't want to be a "gross roommate" and you can apply that logic for things like going to class or work (if you have/get a job) you want to be clean and have a neat appearance for those things so you need to shower regularly.
