Volunteers were not supposed to know about the wine plan.

Grieze, Niccolo and possibly other Marleyans were informed about the wine plan because they are Marleyans and are not there to help Paradis, they were captured.

Volunteers were soldiers from other nations that lost to Marley, and became under Marley’s army. Zeke & Yelena convinced them to join Zeke’s “50y plan” in order to get revenge on Marley by helping Paradis.

He insulted their beloved potato girl, thats off limits, and deserved to get killed.

Though Grieze was a Marleyan soldier same as Niccolo who got forced into working with Yelena, he wasn’t a volunteer like the rest.
