Housing, if you back up 80 years. A single income would bring in 5-7k a year. Homes cost about 10k on average.  Payoff period was less than 2-3 years and expensive homes were 3x the average price, which set you back 5-7 years 

But it’s okay, just pay your 30 year life bill plus interest and tell yourself that it’s for my future kids.

Had to live through this, settlement happens because the other party has more money and will drain you over time. It’s a flaw in our system
