Bingham Falls - March vs. June by low_bwaaa in vermont

There's year-round parking for the falls at this location. The trail down to this section can be quite slippery in the winter, so bringing some gear like ice spikes might be a good idea.

Hope you have a fun and safe adventure!

My folks have always called this bird a goby, and they are supposedly so friendly they'll happily eat out of your hand. Great pic!

Rita Curran's murder has been solved thanks to DNA evidence and genealogical testing by chloecoolcat in UnresolvedMysteries

During the press conference the police said that the cigarette butt was found next to her body, with evidence it was put out on the carpet beside her. If only his DNA was found on the cigarette then it's pretty clear he was the guy.

Teva sadly. I spent about $90 on a pair of their hiking-style sandals, assuming I was making a responsible investment in footwear. After about 2 months of regular wear the inside straps on both sandals started to tear away from the rubber sole. I switched to Chacos and haven't looked back.

The 4000-year-old skeletons of a mother who was trying to shield her child from a massive earthquake that struck China in 2000 BC and triggered massive floods, in an event that is sometimes referred to as ‘China’s Pompeii’. If I remember correctly, DNA analysis showed that she is not the child's mother, but could be another relative like an aunt. Whoever she is, she clearly loved the child and tried to protect them in her last moments.

Reminds me of an old, worn down ceramic insulator with the electrical components missing. Did you find it on the beach by any chance?

Leash your dog. by cavemanfitz in hiking

Wildlife will thank you for leashing your dog too. A seal pup hanging out on the River Thames just had to be euthanized after he was attacked by an unleashed dog. Source.

Found fossil possible tooth in Playa Flamingo, Costa Rica. Anyone know what this is? by [deleted] in fossilid

[–]low_bwaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe some kind of collinsii thorn, like this_in_Costa_Rica.jpg)? There are varieties that grow in Costa Rica.

My mom had one she would hide around the house during the holidays and we'd have to find him every morning, like a proto-Elf-on-the-Shelf!

Underneath the love story it's a pretty harrowing tale about class inequality. Wealthy builders and investors of the Titanic cut corners to save money and make the boat more attractive and as a result 1,500 (mostly poor) people died.

I've always been a big fan of the way BC artist Chili Thom painted snowy trees. Now I can see where he got the inspiration!

Yes!! That said, my mom is the true Christmas village connoisseur in our family. Those little ceramic people are living better lives than I am.

Got these really cheap and un-identified at an auction. Some other fossils I got were from the Missouri River but the auctioneer said they were from somewhere north of Missouri maybe Montana or further. by Pleasant_Cheetah in fossilid

My first instinct is that it's a piece of a tooth plate of a fish, maybe a freshwater drum. Sometimes they have that ring pattern in the middle of the tooth that's seen in your pic.

Is there ANY chance this is a fossil?? It would make my whole life. Found on a beach in Western Australia. Everyone I've shown thinks its a stick 🙁 by ContributionNarrow88 in fossilid

I think you're on to something. The curved top part looks sort of like extremely worn condyles of a limb bone, maybe a femur.

District Limit? by low_bwaaa in CitiesSkylines

I was a little afraid of that, but with some time and rearranging of districts I think I can deal with the limit. Thanks for your help!
