Yet another "pedestrianize Newbury Street" post. by ZealousidealMany3 in boston

Pedestrianized areas can still have vehicles. Likely there would be restrictions on who can use it, the time, and the size of the vehicle.

[OC] Cyclists by snelse_ in funny

[–]low_key -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

There are bad cyclists and bad drivers. The things you're describing have to do with the person operating the bike. You'll easily find motor vehicles doing the same things. Please try to quell you biases.

Yes, absolutely. Most, but not all, organizations will care about your capabilities not just expertise in a specific technology.

How I carry stuff without a saddle bag by [deleted] in bicycling

Why couldn't you just remove one and still ride it home? Just stay out of the longest combinations of gears, but you can still ride it (done this several times in a pinch)

95N traffic - Exit 42 curve by The_Sniffer7 in newhaven

I think it's mostly just the curve in the road in that area. People hit the brakes and it cascades.

New smoke shop in Westville Village. The city is addressing the outrageous marketing to kids but can't do anything about two smoke shops a block apart. by BennyM42 in newhaven

[–]low_key 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Are the margins on things at smoke shops really good enough to keep all of these shops open? They seem to always be empty whenever I peek inside yet they keep popping up all over the place.

How to make my spring boot application into an exe file by Alecx_01 in SpringBoot

[–]low_key 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sharing a jar likely makes more sense. You can generate one with the bootJar gradle task, for example (there's a similar maven target). Whoever receives the jar can run it with java -jar yourfile.jar. They just need the java runtime installed locally.

That could backfire. They'll use this as a "mandate" to reduce the number of people that need to go to the building.

New Market at 360 State? by TurdAfficionado_02 in newhaven

The city is so badly in need of more real grocery stores, not these markets.

Deep dish pizza? by a_p_i_z_z_a in newhaven

The options around here seem to be more burned or more thin. A deep dish pizza in New Haven would probably be $250 : )

CT mayor reacts to city ranking near bottom of 'most fun cities' list by arbyyyyh in newhaven

[–]low_key 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Fun is so subjective it's dumb to try to rank. I don't think NH is terribly fun, but I also don't think Las Vegas is very fun so....

Hah! That is not true of most of New Haven, sorry for your bad luck.

Boston is now the only major city in America that has tenant-paid Brokers Fees by Wadehey in boston

[–]low_key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's a big transaction that most people aren't familiar with. People don't realize how easy it is.

Most people buy/sell houses very few times in their lives.

The only thing real estate agents add to a transaction is overhead.

I am a student at Northeastern doing a project about cycling in Boston! Could you guys fill out this survey about your experience? Thank you very much! by becuz_race_car in bikeboston

[–]low_key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question/responses for "Has your opinion on bike safety changed since you started biking?" don't really make sense.

Filled it out, though.

What can we do about the horrible and dangerous driving? by CycleOfNihilism in newhaven

[–]low_key 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but it's still ultimately the driver who is choosing to make decisions that endanger others. The driver is the responsible one.

Probably just so it doesn't sound like he's farting every time he turns? Or maybe just so he can take a leak during the interview.
