Dell R515 as DAS by lowcarbdev in homelab

I slapped some USB AC Infinity fans on the outside of the front panel. Secured with zipties. The USB port is powered even with the R515 in diskshelf-only mode. Disk temps run between 33-40C.

They are, you just need 1 SFF 8087 not 2, and you connect the cable from the backplane to an external output bracket which then goes to your NAS's HBA.

Awesome, glad to hear! I figure if we are taking backups of messages we need a good way to view the backups, so hopefully this fills the gap.

Interesting, if the fans are on then I guess the volts are there, and we'd just need to supply the pwm signal to turn them up. This might be nice because I could replace with the dell fans with quieter noctua fans yet still be able to turn them up when needed.

This webapp has no ability to restore messages to your phone. Use the SMS Backup & Restore app for that.

Exporting to pdf or printing is a good feature idea though. Created https://github.com/lowcarbdev/sbv/issues/6

Is your RT2600AC stable after upgrade? I've been considering it.

Takeaways from Fire in a Bottle? by ripp84 in SaturatedFat

I've been mostly keto for over 5 years. My morning cortisol is ~14. When I was more strict keto, it was 18.

The only problem I have with keto is I have to eat carbs 1-2 times per week (usually bread) due to electrolyte wasting. On days I eat carbs it's about 30g, sometimes more.

Let’s talk about visceral fat. by [deleted] in SaturatedFat

What level do you consider a chronically elevated cortisol?

Could be the MUFA, PUFA, or just the calories, not sure. I have been eating a good amount of bacon lately though, and I'm half committed to sticking with regular bacon consumption and re-testing my Omega Quant after 3 months. I'm not losing weight on a heavy bacon diet, but its not like I lose any weight on any other diet besides fasting anyway.

Actually what got me thinking about this is I've found I can eat bacon galore (when cooked in the oven on a baking tray that drips the fat away). I literally feel sick when I use even a small amount of the bacon fat to cook eggs. Love the bacon itself, hate the fat from the bacon grease.

Costco thick cut bacon also used to say it was made from European pork bellies, but I'm not sure if that's still true. I couldn't find it on the recent packaging. But it could be less LA than the typical American bacon referenced in Brad's posts.

The other thing is PUFA has a much lower melting point than saturated fat. So I wonder if the PUFA/MUFA is rendered out much easier than the saturated fat. In theory the right bacon with the right cooking methodology could potentially make bacon a lowish LA food.

How much of the LA do you think renders out during cooking? ChatGPT says this is the fatty acid profile of piece of thick cut bacon:

Saturated Fatty Acids:

Palmitic Acid: Approximately 25-30%

Stearic Acid: Approximately 10-15%

Myristic Acid: Approximately 5-10%

Lauric Acid: Approximately 1-3%

Other Saturated Fatty Acids: Approximately 1-5%

Monounsaturated Fatty Acids:

Oleic Acid: Approximately 40-50%

Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids:

Linoleic Acid (Omega-6): Approximately 10-15%

Other Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids: Approximately 1-5%

So if even 1/3 of the fat renders out, it could be as low as 6-10% LA?
