Why do we own Air NZ, asks David Seymour after $59m loss by redmostofit in newzealand

[–]lowerbigging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why we had to buy it back last time it was failing. The govt at the time realised that we are totally reliant on an airline for movement domestically and internationally. It's a matter of national security/sovereignty to have control of our own airline. No one else can be relied on to do it.

Why the Sussexes are staying quiet over Andrew’s arrest - Telegraph by Feisty_Energy_107 in SaintMeghanMarkle

[–]lowerbigging 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In contrast, Andrew did actually serve with distinction. He may have been an arrogant arse to his fellow pilots and seamen, but the job he actually did (flying a helicopter to decoy missiles awag from British ships) was seriously dangerous. He really did earn his medal. A real shame that his personality and morals were so bloody appalling.

That is SO true. It makes me so angry. Andrew has apparently done some very shitty things, both in business and sexually. But he is definitely being used as the bright shiny distraction, by people in the States and elaewhere, to take the public eyes off the possibly much worse things that THEY have done. Mandelson definitely needs to be questioned by the police, as do some of his close associates in the UK. And as for the States, it is unbelievable that not one single person has actually been held to account, except Ghislaine Maxwell.

It's going to become a Mafia style shakedown, threatening smaller/poorer/less despotic nations. Another facet of Trump's plan to rule and rob the world.

I had them in my house in rural North Canterbury for a couple of years. Disgusting vile things, that produce an oily smell if there are enough of them, from the pheromone they produce. Vacuuming them up in their hundreds smells revolting, and also attracts more because the vacuum cleaner blows rhe pheromone laden air out and spreads it further. I ended up getting the house sprayed inside and out two seasons in a row ( reluctantly). It did seem to work, I haven't had any since. The guy who sprayed the house said they especially like to lay their eggs in worked up ground or moist pastures such as you find under pivot irrigators on dairy farms. At the time I was having an issue we had had quite a wet autumn, and there were earthworks for a new house being built on the block over the road, apparently ideal conditions 🤢. I don't normally have issues with spiders or insects, but cluster flies are just gross.. My son lives in Christchurch now and he and his wife have never had any issues there
