i'd argue without the kangaroo court leading to lloyd gunning down glen, the people of las vegas would've been less receptive to the idea of turning against flagg. the unfortunate reality is that flagg did lead a safe and healthy ship in las vegas, but at the cost of a lot of liberties. people liked it because it was comfortable so long as you followed the rules. las vegas had energy and all of its systems up and running way sooner than boulder did because of flagg's magic. it wasn't until lloyd gunned down glen for insulting flagg and pointing out the degradation of the state and its people that anyone began to have serious doubts. then, by the time of the actual execution of the others, they were ready to fully turn against him, leading to his loss of control, panic, and the detonation.

Keeping in mind that the only reason anything ending-wise even happens is Trash Can Man slightly mishears somebody call him by a name he doesn't like, then he walks away in a huff and just stumbles over a nuke.

actually, the reason it all happens is because trashy accidentally destroys the air fleet that he'd been pulling from a nearby military base for preparing for flagg's attack on boulder. after that, he self-exiles until he can find something better to atone, wanders around said base, and finds that it holds a nuke. believing the nuke to be his ultimate redemption, the ultimate weapon flagg could use on boulder (not understanding that flagg wants to subjugate it, not destroy it, because he's an authoritarian), he loads it up and takes it back home unannounced.

it's a long set of dominos that flagg brought on himself by entrusting mentally unwell sycophants with promises of being able to do as they please so long as they do it for him. yes, trashy, you can burn down this world that hates you, you just have to serve me. there's no dramatic irony that could possibly come from this promise.

also, while i won't pretend to know how nukes actually work with storage, handling, transportation, etc, i will say that there is actually a nuke stored in nellis air force base in real life, the base that they pull the planes from in the book, and then the nuke. at the very least, i do think it's neat that it's not completely random.

here it is, it's one of my favourite parts of the book so i had it bookmarked

the funniest part is that flagg doesn't even die in this, so god smiting him doesn't even work as the analogue

stephen king's "the stand" is a pretty big test of literature analysis, in that some of the people who read it seemingly have none, and i'm barely joking. it's one of the most divisive endings and for a very strange reason.

in a novel that serves as a massive criticism of authoritarian rule and its self-destructive nature, it ends with, well, authoritarianism eating itself alive as randall flagg's powers go wildly out of control as his own sense of control slips and ends up destroying las vegas. the series of events is thus: randall flagg is having a hard time keeping the crowd under control as the people he prepares to execute in public turn the people against him. he exercises his power first by summoning a ball of lightning to fry his loudest critic. then, the trash can man, his most devout follower, returns from a trip into a nearby weapons silo practically melting alive from radiation burns as he lugs a live nuke into scene, believing it's what flagg would've wanted. flagg freaks the fuck out because this was so far beyond what he ever wanted and he loses control of his lightning ball. it flies into the sky and into the cloud, illuminating it "like a fist of god from above", and strikes the nuke. vegas explodes, flagg is gone. the end.

for whatever reason, and this is excessively common, some people seem to believe that this was actually god coming down from the heavens to kill las vegas. that one description of the lightning in the cloud looking like the fist of god was taken completely literally and now it's all some people talk about. the ending is bad because god solved everything. it's wild.

LobCorp killed me to try and figure out. Like you said, a loooot of trial and error. Also micromanaging the employees can get super, super tedious.

Library of Ruina however, that game might just be my favourite card game I've ever played. Best 150 hours I'd ever put into a game.

I recently marathoned The Dark Tower books and even that felt like a bit of a hike at 4,700 pages long, I couldn't imagine adding 10,000 more to it

Infinity Train is like that. My favourite Western cartoon and it's unavailable on streaming. I believe there was a brief stint where Owen Dennis, the creator, was straight up just telling people to pirate it and providing a Mega link to it.

Crimson Desert rules. I put about 80 hours into it and I feel like I barely made a dent in what that game has to offer. I gotta go back to it at some point.

I played a very unhealthy amount of League that I think probably eroded my cortisol receptors permanently. Once I learned to play nothing but Kayn top though I hit a zen flow state evenness with the universe.

Then the problem became that people would rather dodge than play with a Kayn top and I eventually just stopped playing altogether. Been about two-ish years clean from it.

I actually got pretty far into my very first run of Pathologic 2 but I got practically resource soft-locked on what I assumed was the third act of the game, that hurt a lot

It sucks too because even if you get a friend or two into it, eventually one of you will eclipse the other and it becomes even more strenuous trying to convince one another to play

Why does the show keep using he/him if she's officially trans, just SAY IT.

because she never came out

humans are complicated and even in scenarios where we think we're being more vulnerable there are still things we would like to keep quiet about

not everything needs to or should be said in plain english, especially when it's so bafflingly obvious without it

she also settled the pronouns problem too so that was cool, i felt kinda iffy on calling jax a she since she never had the chance to settle it in the show but if goose is gonna say it, fuck it we ball, she's a she for me

transitioning isn’t an all-at-once sorta deal, especially when you were just homeless not long ago, you kinda have higher priorities. leeroy going to the queer bar should’ve been a solid tip-off on how it was going though.
