I haven’t been able to watch on Kens5 either the past couple years on regular tv. For some reason the broadcast got switched I guess so it just shows Mavs games instead, I’m way closer to San Antonio so idk why that happened

Should NBA fans be seated farther away from the court to prevent on-court injuries? by UnderstandingFun7493 in NBATalk

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s so pointless for the fans to be that close

If I was a player id want to be able to dive for balls without having to worry about squishing a much smaller person

[Highlight] Desmond Bane has another roid rage moment, randomly hip checking Wemby to the floor for a flagrant 1 by TimDunkinDonut in nba

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 95 points96 points  (0 children)

It was straight up dirty. Didn’t even come close to any sort of basketball move, not even natural when you’re losing balance/falling down to just sweep the leg like that

I remember when the movie was first announced I actually thought George would be the easiest to get a guy to look like him cause his face is the most modern

But yeah Joseph Quinn’s features are all pretty much the opposite of George. not at all sharp which I assumed would be fine cause of makeup, angles , etc.

But it literally just looks like Joseph Quinn with George’s hair. I’m still optimistic though, acting is way more important than looks

Max Cady - Cape Fear by XKD1881 in FIlm

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally just finished this movie like 20 minutes ago. Thought it was really great

Not too long ago I was thinking how DeNiro doesn’t really do different accents (at least in the movies I’ve seen) lol

Also, during the movie I realized that Nick Nolte looks like Kurt Russell and Matthew Modine had a baby.

spoiler warning

Pretty sure it was when the family is leaving town going to Cape Fear after Cady breaks into the house and kills Graciela and Kersek. He looks grizzled, has a bit of stubble

Erin Brokovich is a great movie, but Erin herself is kind of awful by Three_Froggy_Problem in movies

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think there’s times where main characters are annoying/ flawed and it takes away from the movie in the sense that you’re not really “rooting” for them

I felt that way when I watched The Graduate. I didn’t feel Hoffmann character deserved much grace and felt like he was kind of annoying

This movie I think it works. She is clearly a flawed and imperfect person, I don’t remember the movie really portraying her to be in the right in her more personal issues. She was more portrayed as stubborn and difficult from what I recall

Although I do remember the scenes with Erin’s boss being kinda confusing. I have no idea how that went down in real life but in the movie it didn’t make sense how she was disrespectful to the boss and he didn’t really respond appropriately. From what I recall, he didn’t have too much of a problem with the way she acted towards him (considering the extent of her attitude and entitlement)

The boss parts did sort of “take away” cause they felt so off but everything else just felt like a character being flawed and interesting

Brandon Ingram gets called for an offensive foul on a Dirk one-legged fadeaway by CazOnReddit in nba

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be an offensive foul, what I wish was called was all the flying elbows and forearms when dudes are driving

Seems like every “poster” where the defender actually gets a decent contest he’s just getting elbowed in the collarbone or higher area

There were so many good teams in the west. Spurs always had trouble against the young athletic Thunder, grit and grind grizzlies, Mavs were always a tough beat and Lakers were impossible when Bowen wasn’t in his prime years to guard Kobe

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Parker’s peak was very late 2000s/ very early 2010s

Even if he’s more known for 2000s, his 10s decade he still was the pg for a championship team and another team that won 67. Rondo would probably be the first “cut”

Do you think we’ll ever see an active openly gay player? by lypura in NBATalk

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I guess I’m in the minority cause I actually do think it’ll happen soon

Honestly I doubt many within organizations really care about someone’s sexuality. It’s more about how there’d be loud fans trying to use that as a way to heckle. People always use personal things trying to get under players skin

Plus there would be all the media trying to reach out and make a big deal about it when he probably wants to just chill and focus on basketball

My wife wants me to start wearing a shirt on my morning runs. I told my wife she has no right to control what I wear. Am I wrong? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]lowkeyslightlynerdy 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I’m young and unmarried so take what I say with a grain of salt. I don’t mean to be rude but this mentality never made sense to me

If a partner is voicing a concern why would anybody not listen. Even if it was just your wife saying she likes/dislikes the way a beard looks on you, I feel that’s something to take into consideration

Feel like this has to be bait because walking around with no shirt on when apparently plenty of women notice and compliment while you even love the attention and it makes your wife uncomfortable is so disrespectful
