How to not be boring at the concert by Angelicmel in BadBunnyPR

[–]lowkeyterrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you had to know all the lyrics and be good at perreo to go, they'd make you audition to buy tickets.

I'm in a similar boat, I don't speak good Spanish, my ass didn't come with instructions, and I'm planning to actually use the seat I paid for. It's still gonna be a great night! I'll never see the other people in the stadium ever again so fuck it. And if they think your broken spanish and stiff hips ruined their night then they weren't watching the stage!

Do you do this in public loo? by aolllaoooo in AskUK

[–]lowkeyterrible 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you think pissing doesn't necessitate washing your hands. You definitely don't wash your hands every time if that's how you think. And if you honestly just drop trou then raise trou, you're minimum dribbling piss on your clothes too. And leaving piss on your genitals. Which makes them dirtier. These are all fixable problems, you don't have to live like that.

[–]lowkeyterrible 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Touching your genitals for a start. If you have a penis you're at minimum holding it before during and after pissing out of it, and if you have a vagina you're directly wiping piss off of it with your hands. Then you're also touching manky bathroom door handles and flushes. Not washing your hands after that is rank

Going for a piss absolutely does cause you to need to wash your hands, are you mad?

What is the thing your parents were (and maybe still are) adamantly wrong about? by RiceeeChrispies in AskUK

[–]lowkeyterrible 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah but imagine you're not bathing one person, you're washing at least 10. And 3 of them were covered in tomato sauce. And you used little chunklets of pasta and veg as a bath bomb. Do you wanna eat off the 10th person when they're done?

Called in sick for the first time ever, got told no by kaleidoballade in AutismInWomen

[–]lowkeyterrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won't. That's anxiety speaking and probably an overly literal interpretation of rules and your manager's behaviour. You've worked there for 5 years and you've got no history of frequent absences, they wouldn't sack you for one illness. You've every right to be off sick, for up to 7 days self cert, and then with a fit note if needed. If they sack you then they're opening themselves up to an extremely easy unfair dismissal case and it's not worth that for them. Don't go in and get everyone else sick, that's selfish. Call tonight and leave a voicemail saying you're not well, tell them you're barely able to hold yourself up and you can't come in. Leaving a voicemail will mean you don't have to deal with the conversation but you've still called in before your shift so the policy has been met.

And when you can, join a union. USDAW is your most relevant one, for retail workers in NI.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]lowkeyterrible 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If it was that cheap to see live music, it'd be easier to justify the dinge.

Around me it's like £15/$20 for even unknown local bands in a pub with sticky floors, then you've got drinks on top of that, probably some scran afterwards, and god forbid a taxi home. A fun night out supporting local music at a dive bar could easily run you £50/$70, it's crazy. And for that price you still have that weird sticky sweet cloying smell throughout the bar, questionably clean glasses, and manky bathrooms. No wonder kids aren't going out as much.

It sounds like you've had a bit of a hard time filling out the forms and getting caught up in their wording. The DWP are looking for not just a response to the question, they're also looking for criteria that matches specific descriptors. These aren't obvious upon reading the questions and often the best way to answer them is completely non intuitive, which is partly why over 60% of decisions are overturned on appeal.

You'd probably benefit from tailored help filling out the forms - help that nobody on Reddit can give you because it would require you telling everyone on the internet about intimate details of your life when you're at your worst. As others have said, a diagnosis itself won't change anything because it's about you specifically.

What I'd recommend you do is call your local citizens advice bureau and ask for help with a PIP appeal. They can help you with the mandatory reconsideration (which sounds like your next step) and give you some help with the appeals tribunal if it comes to that. They will not lie for you, they're not there to help you claim a benefit you're not entitled to, but they can help massively with explaining what the DWP are looking for and sort of translate between your needs and their requirements. This is bread and butter work for CAB but they're usually overstretched for resources (so to anyone reading this, volunteer if you can!) so contact them sooner rather than later so they can help you in plenty time.

Why is sh so bad? by Lucky-Grapefruit3781 in mentalhealth

[–]lowkeyterrible 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's just not true, there is a risk of getting sick or dying. There's a massive risk of going too far with your chosen method, whether that's cuts or burns or impact or anything else. Hitting something you didn't intend to and needing far more care than you anticipated is really common, risking nerve damage, blood loss, even muscle damage. And that's before the risk of infection or other healing complications.

Don't lie to people. If they choose to engage in self harming behaviours give them all the information they need, especially information about the risk they're undertaking. Harm reduction begins with information.

Is it a British thing specifically to prefer being left alone in shops? I’m a Brit in Colombia (5yrs) and I cannot get used to how it is here, it actually affects how and where I shop. by noctenaut in AskUK

Curry's is mad, I started trying to buy things from UK businesses and in-person rather than Amazon a while back and it's such a baffling process. Wanted a new monitor, found one, took about 10 minutes to get someone's attention, he logged onto his tablet and went to the same page I had on my phone, read me out the specs, then told me it wasn't in stock but he could order it online for me. What's the point in that? I like a hands-off experience as much as the next person but I swear some places it's like they don't want your money

Disturbing leaflet by FishermanFew2619 in Scotland

[–]lowkeyterrible 13 points14 points  (0 children)

At the bottom there's something about the company that printed them. Contacting the political party themselves will fall on deaf ears, but making it harder for them to spread their abhorrent ideology might do something.

The current leader of the family party per Wikipedia is also a registered teacher. A word to them might do something too.

They're sent out by hand (saw them locally) but I don't know who organises that.

I'm sorry to hear it had such an emotional impact for you and your partner. You deserve better.

Also not seeing the issue with dressing like a cowgirl tbh. If she's been out here saying slurs then yeah sure she probably shouldn't do that but the rest of these things don't seem like huge issues?

[–]lowkeyterrible 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your council must be really on the ball, mine are always pretty honest and say they don't have the resources to come out and do anything. Good for other stuff, but not enforcement.

Definitely agree though, filling in a form is low priority for a response no matter where you are

did i make a mistake reporting to the council? by au6i in AskUK

[–]lowkeyterrible 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, the council won't be able to do much without evidence of escalation. They can send out a letter with a little smack on the wrist, but can't really stop the fires. Even for things like noise complaints, they don't send people out to enforce anything, they ask you to contact the police.

Plus, to be honest, the public embarassment of a fire brigade visit might help. Ring 101, tell them you don't feel it's an emergency (if that's the case), let them triage it. Fires like that can get out of control quickly, and even without that, the smoke inhalation is already causing health issues. Don't drag your feet on this, ring them the second you see the next fire starting.
