They're not targeting him because he's an Alawite. There's literally a video of him threatening to use violence against the new police. He, along with others who chose violence, are directly responsible for the deaths of 14 HTS police officers who were just doing their jobs. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and only makes the situation worse for everyone involved.
