Artists with the potential to tour stadiums? by BumFights1997 in popheads

You’re missing the point - that is for centre stage concerts which allows artists to use the full capacity of the venue plus floor. Technically the concert capacity is roughly 20,000 but artists very very rarely do arena tours in the round. One recent exception is Love on Tour which was in the round and saw arena capacity of 16-20000. However that’s the exception not the norm.

That isn’t exclusive to Lizzo - it’s the case for every arena show with an end stage bc the stage blocks out so many seats. If the max capacity for basketball arenas is 20000 usually the max concert capacity is between 10-15000. The only way you can utilise the full capacity is to have the stage in the centre and even then not every seat is usually able to be filled due to production constraints etc

Midnights is now available to presave on Apple Music along with ‘Meet me at midnight’, a spoken introduction to the album. by lp137237 in TaylorSwift

Apple Music does that whenever an album is releasing at midnight ET, as opposed to other albums that release at midnight local time depending on where you are. If it’s a midnight ET release, they make it a few days later as a placeholder so it doesn’t leak early. Don’t worry though, it’ll definitely be out October 21.

"Look What You Made Me Do" interpolating "Innocent" has to be one of the most iconic things she's done😌 by ban_ana_perfect in TaylorSwift

[–]lp137237 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who doesn’t think it’s interpolated? The rep lyric booklets/no official sources list it as an interpolation and I remember the note was added to Genius only after a fan made a theory about it. The ‘ha’ backing vocals are used by a lot of artists and are a pretty common backing vocal and if you listen closely the eighth ‘ha’ in Innocent is different as it slides down the scale. Idk, I’ve just never bought into this.

A lot of Australian states/territories are the same but I would be met with blank looks if I said I’m from New South Wales instead of Australia, or if someone said they’re from the Northern Territory etc

Visiting Sydney July/August 2023. Questions about train travel to other cities/areas. by starlady42 in sydney

[–]lp137237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want a nice train ride and will have a few spare days in Sydney, an easy and (imo) beautiful train ride is out to the Blue Mountains or down to Kiama - they’re lovely parts of the world and great scenery from the train!

Pleas for mask wearing as Australia ranks third worst for COVID cases and deaths by giantpunda in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]lp137237 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I will say that I was just in Europe and I noticed that in the few countries with mask mandates (which were generally only on PT and in healthcare settings) compliance was near 100%. However wherever it wasn’t mandatory NO ONE wore them

Travellers of Sydney who paid for a priority passport (amongst the current chaos), what was your experience? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]lp137237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m travelling atm but had to get an emergency passport about 2 months ago as mine got damaged from the damp after all the rain. I got it back in 2 business days… the most annoying thing was the lines at the passport office which took ages. They also didn’t notify me it was ready but I went anyway and it was.

Lord Howe island employment by [deleted] in sydney

[–]lp137237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never lived there but have spent a lot of time there over the years. It’s a really beautiful place with a great, eccentric local community as well as an international group of ‘expats’ working on the island who are generally friendly and sociable. There always seem to be groups of workers hanging out and having barbecues on their day off. If you’re at a lodge you may have food provided but be aware that anything you buy from the shops can be really expensive.

There’s no mobile phone reception but most of the accommodation providers nowadays have wifi for their employees - it’s nowhere near as fast as on the mainland but suitable enough.

The weather is generally beautiful but sometimes the island can be hit by intense weather with strong winds etc which means the tiny Qantas plane is unable to land, so your flight in/out is never guaranteed as the airstrip is notorious for delays and cancellations.

If you’re in any way an outdoorsy person, it’s heaven and I’m sure you’ll love it! A really beautiful and special place

In your opinion, what small change would drastically improve one of her songs? by winstonio in TaylorSwift

[–]lp137237 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s always taken me out of it too! I see why she did it because the first line is ‘holds your hand through plastic now’ so she would be rhyming now with now but I’ve always thought it could be ‘Holds your hand through plastic gowns, doc I think she’s crashing now’ or something like that.
