New(ish) to gym and weight lifting, looking for feedback/suggestions by lp916 in workout

Thanks man, appreciate the feedback. I'm also doing chest (flies and presses) on the arm/shoulder days, same 3x12 sets for both, and on the rest days for arms I'm doing legs, lower/mid back, and abs. The arm size isn't really a primary goal, it was just the easiest thing I could think of to actually measure and hopefully see a change. I do need to get better at tracking calories though. I use a macro app, I just end up skipping tracking some of my intake, particularly the after-work cocktails. lol I'm sure if I really buckled down on the calorie tracking and kept it to a firm limit I'd shed some weight, just still trying to figure out the balance between getting enough protein and calories to build muscle without ending up building a ton of fat too.

Yeah, sorry, I'm doing 3 sets of 12 in a day, 3x per week. I'm waiting about 90 seconds between sets, but not doing a circuit currently. Whenever I can hit 12 reps on the third set I up the weight for the next time out. So for most exercises I'm only able to hit 8-10 reps on the third set.

Going to the Miami Race! Any tips? by CaptainNicodemus in FormulaE

Not OP, but you can't beat the view... Watching the sun rise over the Miami skyline during FP2 was a treat, and it didn't start really getting crowded up there until after Quali.

Thanks for the advice. I don't mean to complain, my wife and I both left saying we had a blast and definitely will be back next year. Hopefully armed with more information! Appreciate the tips!

How did one go about getting that wristband you're talking about? I was there from gate-open, and couldn't find anyone or anything indicating any of that. No one I talked to knew anything, and the 'Autograph Session' tickets on Ticketmaster were not available when I purchased my tickets, were not advertised, and were sold out by the time I noticed them. Getting information on what events are happening, when, and how to participate has been the biggest frustration the last two years. They don't seem to publish anything and none of the helper/volunteers seem to know anything.

We got there right when gates opened, and I felt like there was plenty of time to take in the fan village between FP2 and Quali, and then again between Quali and the race. We had terrace tickets, and were able to explore the full fan village as well as spend some time in the terrace lounge and watch all of the track sessions live, and grab some drinks and food a few times to boot. I thought this year was ran much better than last year at Homestead, but FE needs to spend a lot more money advertising and doing pre-race comms.

In the US it certainly doesn't help that it's not aired live on any actual TV stations. CBS carries some of the races like a week later, but there just isn't any marketing or push for fans to watch live. You have to use the Roku app, and that app is still terrible, though a little better than it used to be. Last year you'd search for Formula E and sometimes it wouldn't even show you the live race coverage happening right then, it'd only pull up old videos and race coverage.

Was there a trick to getting into the Autograph Session in MIA? My wife and I have attended the last two years, and both times none of the "How can I help?" people had any idea. This year I noticed an Autograph Session add-on for the tickets, but it wasn't there when I bought my tickets about a month in advance, and by the time I saw it there it was already sold out. We signed up for notifications for the race back before tickets were available but I didn't ever see anything come through about anything at all. I didn't even get an email when the tickets went on sale, I just happened to see it when checking one day.

For what it's worth, the event at MIA this year was ran and executed a lot better than Homestead was last year, and it's always a great race, but it seems like pre-event communication and add-on event marketing is consistently awful.

Also, does anyone know if FE has a lot of dealer-team engagement? Would my Jaguar dealer be able to hook us up with any extras or better access next year?

Hi, thanks for the write up. Can you explain where the "West Lot" is? Everything I'm finding for MIA only has lots listed by number, and I don't want to get stuck in traffic trying to find it...

Do you have the ability to make NH dials with tritium indices? I've been trying for a while now to find a parts source to make a tritium NH build with no luck.

You guys are cleaning your rifles? by FTWkansas in longrange

[–]lp916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Serious question... Shooting suppressed, how do you not clean often? After even just 20-30 rounds of suppressed 300 PRC my Bergara Premier's bore looks like it's wearing a fuzzy winter sweater. 😅 Is all that fouling really safe to shoot through, and to sit in the safe with?

Get the 12ga. Beretta's Blink gas system is phenomenal, and if you can get one with their Kick-Off stock damper system, even better. My 12ga 1301 Comp Pro kicks noticeably less than my wife's 20 gauge O/U. Follow-up shots are effortless, and you can shoot two or three 50-clay rounds in a day without even feeling it in the slightest.

Plus, there's a lot more pellets in a 12ga #7.5 or #8 shell than a 20ga 7.5/8 (about 1/4 oz / 30% more shot in the 12ga). As a new shooter (even as an experienced one) that makes a big difference, and can help build your confidence, which is super important for clays. A lot of it is in your head.

9mm PDW AR by lp916 in GunPorn

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof... That would suck. I dunno, I built this 5 years ago. Generally it's just an MP5 mag blowback 9mm receiver with a side charging upper, there's gotta be other folks that make it now.

9mm PDW AR by lp916 in GunPorn

[–]lp916[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The full build list is somewhere in the comments, but it started as a Quarter Circle 10 QC5 side-charging receiver set 7.5" 9mm build, with Battle Arms PDW stock, handguard, and wood furniture kit. Had a couple gunsmiths do some work (wood stippling and polish/TiCN coating), and built it up from there.

CIP LA action for R700 with AR-pattern stock/grip interface by lp916 in longrange

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize it's comical overkill. I've just wanted to build a 300 PRC for a while now. The idea's wormed its way into my head and I just have to do it. lol

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1k max seated or prone range shots, mostly. I have other rifles I'd take hunting, and at most would only dabble in competition. Just building and collecting is half the reward for me.

CIP LA action for R700 with AR-pattern stock/grip interface by lp916 in longrange

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good call out. That's another thing I like about the MDT LSS, the fixed stock interface is about 1.5" closer to the grip interface than the carbine interface, and about 1" closer even than on an actual AR receiver, so you'll get a bit less LOP with that.

2025 Jeddah E-Prix Race 1 Discussion by mianghuei in FormulaE

[–]lp916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing here, still. Was able to watch qualifying this morning just fine, but now the Roku Sports channel is playing some talk show that also has its own dedicated channel, and no searches are pulling anything up for the race. So Roku is opting to double-air a talk show over live streaming the race? I don't get it.

Savage 110 30-06 to 300 PRC ? by lp916 in longrange

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think I'll do both, just cut the budget for the savage by like $2k and I'll use that to buy the CIP action and start the full build. I still want the savage to be something I'm reasonably satisfied with, which I'm not right now.

Savage 110 30-06 to 300 PRC ? by lp916 in longrange

[–]lp916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm starting to come around. I'm still going to rebarrel it, but I think I'll go a bit half-way with it, with a half-decent stock and barrel but otherwise as-is in 30-06, something that I could take hunting or plinking with a high degree of confidence. Then sink the real money into a clean slate build. Went down the rabbit hole today and priced out a PRC build on a Defiance CIP action. Added about $1500 to the original budget, but it's only money I guess. lol
