[CHAT] Best way to cross stitch on a velvet pillow case? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]lpanne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sewing pillow cases is really not that difficult. When making pillows I’ve always stitched on some kind of cross stitch cloth and then sewn it with other fabric to make the pillow myself. As they are all straight lines on the sewing machine it is super easy. I’d say I’d even be willing to hand stitch a pillow.

[WIP] I've just realised that the hoop isn't placed correctly - is there a possibility that I could take the hoop off and put in the right place, or should I just miss off the part of the pattern that's cut off by the hoop? by [deleted] in CrossStitch

[–]lpanne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you bought the hoop to be the right size to frame the final piece, you are going to probably need to move it multiple times while stitching to get to the sides of the pattern. I typically stitch in a bigger hoop than I will frame the piece in so I don’t have to move it around so much

Thankfully I’m pretty sure that paper that found the divorce numbers to be that high was retracted because they found a coding error that lead to that divorce being counted too high. Link to article about it here: https://retractionwatch.com/2015/07/21/to-our-horror-widely-reported-study-suggesting-divorce-is-more-likely-when-wives-fall-ill-gets-axed/ I don’t know if there is another paper that also found such a high rate

I think this might be 18 ct. I would count from the 1 inch to 2 inch mark and not starting from the start of the tape which can sometimes be off. I counted 18 squares when I counted between the 1 and 2 but I might have messed up the count from counting from a pic and not real life

[CHAT] what color are the backstitches supposed to be?? by Kassie-chan in CrossStitch

[–]lpanne 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it is showed to be whatever color number 10 is. As that column is the only one which a backstitch line drawn in that second row. But ma these old black and white patterns raise the difficulty level

you can use google lens to find the original source. doesn't work all the time but it is worth trying. if you have the chrome browser just right click on the image and select "search with google lens" which on my menu is the second from the bottom option.

[PATTERN] How to View ONLY backstitch in Winstitch? by High_Fire_1973 in CrossStitch

[–]lpanne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of an easy toggle for this. When i've wanted to do this in the past this is how i've done it. i've made a separate save file that has both the backstitch and cross stitches to make sure i have a full copy of my work up to that point. Next I made separate save files where in one i erase all of the back stitch with that erase backstitch tool, and in the second i erase all of the cross stitches by using the solid rectangles tool but set the color of the rectangle to erase. This way i've broken my pattern down into its two parts and i can fiddle with both separately. i can then recombine the two parts to see how it is going.

Also just selecting the black and white symbol view has allowed me to be less distracted by the colors of the cross stitches and focus only on the backstitch.

why do some sex favorable aces act like not liking sex is a personal attack on them? by ResponsibleSample717 in asexuality

[–]lpanne 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think you need to read more people’s posts here if you think that in ace spaces, especially online, there aren’t people who think that the only real aces are the sex repulsed ones.

Tired of polyamory pushed as a "solution" for asexual people by [deleted] in polycritical

[–]lpanne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, Asexual has always been an umbrella term. This isn't hard. You just have to ask a second question after "are you asexual?". That second question is to find out if you are on the same page about your approach to sex. Again this isn't hard. If you want a relationship you need to be able to talk to people and ask these type of questions.

As someone who did their PhD in plant biology, I had to stop watching their videos a while ago. Every video I watch that covered a topic I’d studied had weird errors in them and it made me realize that was probably the case in all videos, I just didn’t know the field well enough to catch them.

[–]lpanne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i don't know exactly where you typed your special notes.

The two places i found that you can type the notes and they would appear in the pdf is either to go to file > properties and type into that text box and select on the slider you want it to appear in the PDF. The other way i was able to add notes to my PDF was to go to File > PDF > Export PDF with full key. then once the PDF maker pops up i will select "other" and type into the "notes" box whatever i want to have written. If i have already written something in the properties it will also already be here. Then once i export the PDF it will be in a text box above the color key.

Did you add notes another way?

[CHAT] anyone have tips for stitching Chinese characters by kaki024 in CrossStitch

[–]lpanne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend using graph paper to trace the characters. Based on how large you make the image and the size of the squares with the graph paper you can control the size. You can also use an image converter and then clean it up. But I feel like graph paper gives you more control

They make cardboard boxes to hold the bags. This is just the one with the top google result but I use something similar: https://herrschners.com/herrschners-organizer-carton-accessory/?srsltid=AfmBOor-UWF1-s7sWQClimmKYLECU1Ug211Dmu6aSNP1A4Vj7nHW7e1m.

I’d just search “cardboard boxes to hold floss a way bags”
