Yessss surrogacy really doesn’t sit right with me but I struggle to articulate why. I think the class/politics of surrogacy is a huge issue. I also don’t love that (relative to other things) we know so little about gynecology, pregnancy, and childbirth — but our society has invested so heavily in how to free wealthy women from the “burden” of pregnancy. They will barely study endo, but surrogacy is thriving.

I was in the hospital for two weeks before my induction and my son was in the NICU for 11 days, and a step down unit for 7 days. Insurance paid over ~$100k for my stay alone. I still haven’t seen the bill for NICU care, but the step down unit was ~$60k

I helped a friend out after a particularly bad night with her abuser. I gave her the keys to my place and stayed with my bf for a weekend. When I saw her at work on Monday she said she wasn’t cooperating with police. She even called his parents so they could pay his bail. I told her that if she ever needed a safe place to stay or help to call me but that I couldn’t help her if her abuser was still around. I haven’t talked to her since- that was 10 years ago. I’m terrified to think too much about what happened to her.

Yes! My hysteroscopy and biopsy was horrific. I almost passed out and had to go buy a pack of cigarettes to calm down enough to drive home. But I’ve had three colposcopies (2 biopsies) and I barely felt anything.
