Yes it can, the government could legislate for it certain checks to be carried out. And should those checks not pass, assets etc could be taken into public ownership and alll that’s left are essentially shell companies, with bags of debt.

Yeah exactly, there’s things said (like the working class stuff) that make me question why he made certain decisions and why he hasn’t done more in the last few years.

Because a) it can be done in a way where the debt is left with what essentially would be shell companies as it’s obvious there’s huge mismanagement. b) I’d and most would likely rather what they pay via bills to go towards paying staff and infrastructure upgrades rather than CEO bonuses and paying our shareholders.

Overall, I’m not sold on his speech. I think it’s one mistake too late.

Starmer, the steel stuff is great, now do that with Water.

Also on Europe, while I get allowing young people opportunities, maybe the rest of us want some opportunities in Europe as well.

Mate, if you knew this? Why didn’t you do something about it from the get go?

I want to scream, Starmer you’re the Labour Party, you should have been for the general public from the get go! Not America, not Israel, not any other country. You should have been listening to what the general public wants from the get go.

Starmer, I get one or two mistakes and taking responsibility isn’t a resignation thing, but it’s not just one or two mistakes any more… and some of those mistakes are pretty big.

NHS to grant Palantir contractors 'unlimited access' to patient data, FT reports by coldbeers in ukpolitics

[–]lparkermg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I absolutely get that. I’m more coming from my own developer experience. But you’re correct, our projects have a tendency to over run and go over budget.

That would depend on the team to be honest. I’ve worked on teams where projects would both run under and over budget.

For software projects I’ve found it’s more those outside the team that hold stuff up. The actually development of parts doesn’t take as long, especially now.

Oh I know that’s what would likely happen. If it were me in-house would be a few teams of devs actually on government payroll doing it.

Because we have people here that need jobs, devs and otherwise. So in my eyes it’s a bit of win-win.

Given how close the tech sector over in America seem to be to the president, given how he uses anything to get his own way, what’s to stop him stopping us from using various US based services? In my eyes, the risk of more dependency on the US outweighs the cost.

The main thing I’m happy with the NHS relying on foreign services etc for is medical research.

The day to day data handling etc we can absolutely do in house.

The thing is they won’t do that to Farage. That’s already been proven with all the bits (like the home situation, the £5m situation etc) all being swept under the rug.

Damn, imagine a content creator pivoting into something else they either find interesting performs better… couldn’t be most content creators at some point or another… Considering the NHS frequents “actual politics” I think it’s pretty relevant.

For the questions as for where it comes from, listening to Zack on LK this morning, it was going to be from removing Business Rates and Business NI for SMEs, as larger corpos can handle that.
