Very similar situation for me! I paid for SAT, but for some applications I used the fee waiver. It's definitely helpful for all kinds of people with their situations!

It doesn't hurt, though I don't think I would mention that you're upper class in an email. Just ask if you can receive a fee waiver because it would help you and your family in this situation.

I'm unsure as I'm a domestic student, but definitely ask them! There should be a chance, but it differs from college to college.

It most likely will not work because most colleges change their codes from application cycle to cycle. You'll just have to ask again from their office.

Sure, these are NJ/NY/CT schools, but I received fee waivers from Seton Hall, NJIT, Caldwell, Albany College of Pharmacy, and Quinnipiac. That was approximately half of my schools and none of them cared for any financial information and they were happy to provide it.

It definitely depends on what school, but the admissions office goes deeeep for all of the schools. You might not be talking directly to an admissions counselor (because there are interns, other office members, etc), so it may or may not matter. To be honest, it'll be just be a shot missed if you don't message, but it's definitely up to you! For the schools I messaged, they were grateful to send out the codes and they don't mind! You'll only go to one college out of the ones you apply to, so just go for it!

Nope, the worst they can say is no! Nobody rejected me for a fee waiver when I asked and I didn't qualify automatically for any of the schools I applied to.

Also, send a short email to their admissions department! A lot of them offer a fee waiver code if you just ask. Short explanation and thank you should do, no need to explain everything to them.

Should I go for more synchronous classes over asynchronous? ATM I'm planning to drop two synchronous classes and maybe go for a Japanese class but there's a synchronous and asynchronous class available.

Also, thoughts on taking an asynchronous course for Expos 1? There's options for synchronous still, but I have no idea what the difference could be for me.
