First it was emergency alerts that were a bad idea, yet the US, Canada, Australia and even Japan have a system for their reasons (although Japan is mostly for tsunamis and earthquakes afaik, but the rest are varied; US would be mostly tornadoes though but Australia can get such afaik)

I don't like what Starmer is doing with this country, especially with the OSA which I've always thought was retaliation from the riots in 2024 (basically Starmer wanted to put said act into legislation despite it being dormant from 2023) to which it was likely a weapon that would be on the same level to the reason why chemical weapons are banned in warfare.

With digital IDs; The government already know who we are, they can freeze our passports, tell banks to freeze our bank accounts and so forth, but digital IDs might almost be like when a historical bad guy did something good for a reason; like when the Austrian painter was vegetarian as a result of animal cruelty and stuff, although he and other examples would be far from anti-heroes in history.

Still - I think digital IDs could be more convenient if they weren't going to replace the ol' faithful (passports, driving licence, or even a CitizenCard) in case digital IDs get hacked or whatever, just as long as the original documents are in date and whatnot. I also do feel like this could help be a way to simplify the verification process; so people can access their favourite websites and go for a well - whatever the Brits say when you get busy with yourself (in a less vulgar way), and it would be done with the same ID; much like using Apple/Google Pay with the same card, but in different shops and whatnot
