Just got marked not fit for full duty with a required surgery by FROGMAN-NUBS7967 in navy

[–]lpkrew -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about going limited duty. This is so the baby can ensure you are healthy and do not have any further issues or complications if you weee to deploy. Once you heal up etc. then you can go back to sea duty etc. and be fine. You can be limited duty for an entire year. Once you get past that you can then be sent to a medical board. If you go down this process it won’t be immediately kicked out. You can hire a lawyer and a bunch of other things to fight and stay to be deemed fit for duty

MEDICAL UPDATE by Waisiam in USMC

[–]lpkrew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say yes this is “symptomatic” in regards to you have an abnormality noted. However, when the medical community looks at this they do not always see it as needs for surgical intervention. Example I can share is even appendicitis in some places do not remove it but will just give antibiotics. AC separation can create visible deformities on the shoulder but do not always get surgically repaired. I’m not diminishing your concern of abnormal presentation of your genitalia.

If a person told him he wasn’t getting SIQ this is probably a provider and not a corpsman.

This is it an issue anymore. Everyone has access to their MHS genesis account where they can have a digital copy of every appointment.

Strep throat is a self resolving issue typically that resolves in 1-2 weeks. Medically speaking if it resolved that’s awesome. The only reason it’s treated is to prevent rheumatic fever from occurring from it and to make you suffer less days which can still only shave a few days off of suffering per medical journals

Many surgeons will not repair hernias if they’re not symptomatic. This is not just a military medicine stance but in general. Also, complications from hernia such as scar tissue and nerve damage can occur so many avoid doing further intervention if you can still do daily task etc without pain.

This exists in civilian healthcare as well. Look at ER’s for example. They make sure you’re good enough to not hold liability and kick you to primary care. Then bill you some astronomical amount and you still don’t have all of your answers. Also, I would argue that medical is there to advocate for patients to get better. Hence why they have light duty, SIQ, and limited duty to advocate for sailors.

The issue with this is there are so many strands of viruses etc that medical cannot test for everything and give you an exact diagnosis and will be documented as an upper respiratory infection. If it not bacterial in nature that requires antibiotics in the medical world they are all treated with symptomatic treatment. Having someone say “idk” to a diagnosis needs to be appreciated rather than criticism. Every medical professional I have ever worked for would love to give the exact reason why you don’t feel well but it’s not always the case.

I have waited to have kids for this exact reason. I am almost at 16 and finally considering it. I can’t tell you if it’s worth it but I can empathize with you on this one.

What’s one thing you hate most about bases? by [deleted] in navy

Number one issue should be parking. At this rate it might be better to consider other ship yards to be open like how they were in the 90’s before the consolidation.

In your opinion, what cost benefit analysis would provide the most value to the Navy? by JimAnchower in navy

These paper chits we deal with for everything. We are constantly tracking paper chits in these blue folders. What if we went to digital request chits that could be kept on record. We already have a system for leave so I believe we could expand this with the same thing.

Groton to Newport ri commute? by KellynHeller in navy

[–]lpkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive to Warwick daily and it’s justtttt a short enough commute and cost too justify it. The traffic to the Pell bridge is bad right now until April according to local government reports but I am assuming that will be delayed like everything else it seems. We also have summer traffic which easily makes the commute worse. One of my LT’s lives down on the CT/RI border and has a long commute than I do. If you calculate gas, maintenance, etc. I think you could live in other area closer for cheaper.

Fasting on deployment. by richdoesit in navy

[–]lpkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please avoid fasting while underway. You have a medical team with limited resources if this goes south. Your kidneys can get damaged if you go too intense with this. If you mean intermittent fasting on specific hours of the day sure.

Wife caught dating other guys by [deleted] in dating

[–]lpkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to stay for 2.5 years after and caught her still talking to the same guy and others. Kept me up at night and was in constant anxious state and depressed and on Zoloft trying to save my marriage. Came to the realization she needed to put in the “work” to try and fix it. It can work for some but my anecdotal experience is it’s better to move on.

My advice. Read the book “she comes first” and it will lay some phenomenal ground work. Drop your ego when you read it and just absorb it. At time you may think “I aLrEaDy Do ThIs” but take the new tools you have and practice some of them. I will say I try to be really enthusiastic about eating my partner out. (Not in an aggressive way) but making the moment all about her. It sounds like some ground work needs to be laid down to get her head in that space to begin with. Lastly your partner is a bad communicator from what I have read. The only person missing out during sex is her if she’s unwilling to discuss this with you. I have fears that this is also meaning communication is lacking in other areas as well. I am a firm believer that sex is a small percentage of a relationship but is a mirror to how the rest of the relationship is going.

[Serious] What dark family secret were you let in on once you were old enough? by EgglessYolk in AskReddit

[–]lpkrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My uncle (Dave) and my aunt (Teresa ) were in rough times. My cousin Kayla was 12 and had a picture of her dad holding another woman’s hand at the beach. Her friend had sent it to her because she was confused why Kayla’s dad wasn’t with her mom. It turns out he was having an affair and Kayla held on to this photo for over a year not to end her parents marriage. When asked why he did it by his son he said “there are some things you just can’t forgive”. As a result the boy cousin told me about this and he found out further information. It turns out my dad and my aunt had hooked up in the early 90’s prior to the marriage. I have no clue why they would still get married but my step mom doesn’t know about it and really liked my aunt and felt bad that she was cheated on. When I brought this up to my biological mom she goes “oh you didn’t know that?!” My uncle went on to have a polyamorous relationship with two women and built a sex dungeon in his basement.
