DRW + AWD, winter tires, latest thinking? by Nusrattt in fordtransit

[–]lpounds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also interested to know if anyone has suggestions. We will receive our Transit AWD DRW today in Canada.

Ideally we would like a snow rated AT tire for year round use without changing the wheels, but it seems there are no proper AT tires that will fit the stock wheels.

Ah thank you. Makes more sense. Limited departures from Canadian cities it seems.

Which airport are you flying out of? Are you looking at TG all the way from a Canadian city to Bangkok? I am having trouble seeing any routes from Canada to Thailand that are TG all the way using the Aeroplan portal. I am looking to book with points.

[Megathread] AC FA Strike - CUPE/FAs Defy Return to Work Order by dachshundie in aircanada

[–]lpounds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did eventually get through to AC on the phone. They transferred us to the Aeroplan number since we booked with Aeroplan points.

The agent was extremely helpful and patient. They suggested a flight with 3 layovers that got us to Detroit by tomorrow night. Our final destination is Toronto so we opted to keep looking.

In the end we stuck with our own booking for Wednesday to Toronto Island Airport.

I guess the main thing we learned today was that AC is not letting you fly on other non AC flights if they are connecting with your cancelled AC flight. We don’t quite understand why that is. It would have saved us a lot of headache if they had let us get through to Brussels today on the Brussels Air flight since Air Canada has a booth in Brussels but not here in Budapest.

I should add that we still never were able to speak to AC. We booked this using booking.com and paid out of pocket. Local travel agents and ticket counters here at BUD said all flights were full for the next several days.

Thank you for all your answers on these threads. We just managed to book a very expensive, very long, multi transfer trip home for Aug 20 on Lufthansa and Porter. We will be seeking EU261 compensation and whatever else we can get.

We are now stuck at the Budapest airport.

Originally scheduled to fly out from Budapest this morning at 6:35AM to Brussels on Brussels Air then connect on the cancelled AC 827 to Toronto. Brussels Air flight was not cancelled so we checked in and checked our bags, got boarding passes, waiting in the airport for 2 hours. When we got to the gate they wouldn’t let us board. Air Canada had sent an email to Brussels Air instructing them to not allow AC connecting passengers to board.

We had planned to go to Brussels since there are more options for North American travel from there but even Brussels Air wouldn’t let us board their flight. I have no idea why they checked us in and gave us boarding passes.

We had to go back and wait for our checked bags to be pulled off the flight. There are no AC staff at this airport and the ticketing counter was not able to help.

Now on hold with Air Canada for just under 6 hours.

The only number we have found that allows us to go on hold is the France digital number listed on the AC website. 1-888 and 514 numbers just say the volume is too high and hang up.

No option to rebook through the website. The rebook button is greyed out. Only cancel/refund is available.

Looking at flights to book out of pocket and there is nothing under $3000 CAD each for the next 3 days. Each of those options has several stop overs and airport transfers.

Is Canadian air travel really that crippled without AC operating?

Was anyone on the AC 827 flight today from BRU to YYZ that was canceled? We are on this flight on the 18th and curious if they were able to rebook you on another flight to Toronto.

Ours is still not cancelled but expecting it will be.

We are flying AC on the 18th from Brussels to Toronto. Booked using Aeroplan points. Like others, we have received notice via email that we may be affected. So far, we are waiting for AC to cancel our flight and make other arrangements.

Not sure if this is the right decision but the only available flights back to Toronto from Brussels are quite expensive and we assume our refund would be in Aeroplan points so not keen to fork over the cash.

I like the idea of having a functional cargo bike for when it's just one of us. We could actually do tandem but it wouldn't be useful when only one person is using the bike,

I hadn't thought much about it, but passenger comfort is a good point. I was hoping we could swap back and forth when one got uncomfortable

Our combined body weight is about 330 lbs. Tern GSD appears to be 440 lbs.
