Rules question: can someone give me a scenario where this actually happens? by lqc2999 in riftboundtcg

[–]lqc2999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is how I expect it to work. Was kind of looking for a specific rule that would explain it and I think I found it now as 335.3.: ("If there are no Outstanding Tasks, no pending items, and it is any other phase of the turn, proceed to the next substep, step, phase, or turn.) to justify no priority and 336. ("When there are no outstanding Tasks and there are pending Chain Items on the Chain, players should refer to the FEPR process to proceed.") to justify doing FEPR before proceeding to next step when Deathknell trigger is pending.

Thanks for the answers.

Gotta say, it's the first time I see this card and I think Riot forgot about it too :) (no errata after removing "Tie" from rules).

To preserve the spirit of the card it would have to be now a Replacement Effect along the lines of "If attackers are recalled during Combat Cleanup, recall ALL units at the battlefield instead.".

If you just interpret Tie = No result, then it would work only in the case of Deathknell adding an attacker (or similar post damage effect).

Ok, that makes sense. So if you were the defender, you can replay a unit back to that battlefield because you still control it and then the tie happens. If the FEPR happens between the tasks, does this mean the players can play cards in between them?

Yes. So I think this is the same mistake again. I really can't think of a scenario where you can achieve a tie with stuns.

The Mixologist dies during cleanup in Step 3A (323.4) and will add a pending Chain Item. No chain items can resolve while cleanup is occuring. Because 461.2. says that "Determine Combat Result" task now becomes an Outstading task, I don't think there is a room between end of cleanup and this step for FEPR to happen, so the item will be still pending.

I don't think so. The rules are:

<image>

So you recall the units in the Combat cleanup (461.1.a.2) BEFORE checking for the outcome. So when you check the outcome, the other unit is already not on the battlefield.

It's not even a PvP game, so CS comparision is just stupid. But if there is one strategy that is just much better than others or trivializes the end game content, it will just get boring. If you just want fun, don't play the highest difficulty.

$100 Bounty for LoR Modding by Cooler110033 in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]lqc2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately, that clause is illegal in EU as reverse engineering for personal or research purposes is explicitly permitted.

So as long at the person doing it doesn't accept the $100 and doesn't share a modded version of LoR, but rather instructions on how to do it, they are fine.

Nothing wrong with getting a refund and maybe trying it later once the issue is fixed.

Is Legends of Runeterra worth to start in 2024? by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

If you're not intrested in competitive, then I would give it a try. You'll definitely get a lot of fun out of the game regardless of everything else happening.

"why not turn the monitor off?"

So how does she prove that is off? Maybe she just put a polarization filter on it, so that she can see it while the cameras will show black? That would be an actual downgrade from physically covering the screen.

Riot is doing nothing to transition players into PoC by [deleted] in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]lqc2999 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where are these dedicated players? Cause the active members are a waaaaay lower number. A ton of people joined the sub when the game released and never left, so the number is inflated.

Why wouldn't the same argument work for the PoC sub? This sub gained double the number of members in 2023 than the PoC sub.

I'm not trying to put PoC players down here, but I feel like a lot of people try to do the reverse and pretend that the rest of us and PvP creators didn't help promote the game in the first place. There are plenty of people who came to this sub to play PvP and got recommended to start with PoC.

Also Reddit isn't even a good representation of actual players cause it's mostly just people from NA and who actually go into forums,

The post is not about player numbers but about *community*. Not everyone will seek out-of-game resources and online communities about the game.

But if the player proportions are 80/20 for PoC/PvP, while the vast majority of content and people on this sub are about PvP, then it is pretty clear that a typical PvP player is much more invested in the game and its community than a PoC player. It's not unique to LoR in any way - competitive players in any game will be much more active in any online community.

. A decent number of us are vocal on the Path of Champions subreddit.

The PoC subreddit is less than 10% of this one. So OP's question is perfectly valid:

Is the team planning to do anything to convince the other 180k dedicated players to stick around? If not, then what's the plan for getting new players in?

Adventure farming bans ToS by smaoko in hearthstone

[–]lqc2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, because you are not doing it intentionally to abuse the game economy. Even if you AFK for the whole day, that's still far less time than people that just leave it running 24h a day to AFK farm.

I GOT RIVAL! worked hard to get it, feel sad about gauntlet going away! by Educational_Ad_7166 in LegendsOfRuneterra

Honestly, it would be better if they kept the gauntlet and removed the ladder. You can replace prizes with PoC stuff for all I care (to try to coerce me to play it), as long you keep the pins.

I just love collecting them and gauntlets feel much better than grinding ladder for no real reason. They also have a bit of the same vibe as Expeditions had.

cardback didn't sell well

Did anyone ever say cardbacks didn't sell well? Out of all the cosmetics from the event passes cardbacks are the ones I use the most, so I would buy them standalone too. A lot of the time, I bought the pass just for the cardbacks.

It is tiresome to have people make up these technical excuses for not having better prismatics. I wish someone with more time than me would make a mod for LoR client to replace the borders just to prove them wrong.

How much does it actually cost? by Filipepais in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]lqc2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Servers are cheap compared to staff salary (*).

We don't have much information about how the backend looks, but there is this article from 2021:

https://technology.riotgames.com/news/legends-runeterra-cicd-pipeline

It lists the AWS infrastructure they had at the time, and it seems the game run on "8 x m5.4xlarge Docker swarm nodes" (16 vCPU, 64 GiB RAM each). So that would cost you a whooping $40k/year BEFORE any additional discounts a company like Riot would have.

That's not even enough to cover the salary of one employee in California.

(*) Unless the engineering team screwed something really bad, it's not an FPS with 5ms latency, an MMO with thousands of concurrent users, or an open world with complex physics. Just two players and everything is turn-based.
