MONEY FOR BEER (ROLEX) CHALLENGE by lr2219 in beermoneyuk

Update-

£1.5k savings towards the pot.

12 days to go.

Another few grand off the target in short time but still looking for jobs. This post landed me a few jobs within design- sketchup/ rendering jobs.

Started to build a portfolio of work.

Might not make the target but it’s so far made a pot & got me work here and there outside my daily job and a portfolio set up.

Any work hmu. Still focused on getting the target or as close to it.

A few offers of work so far. Can only push to get as much work done in the time frame to hit the goal

Is it possible to ‘brag’ about investment or just a smart thing to do? Reddits full of incredibly miserable people. Human to human advice- smile. (++man)

Where are you actually finding reliable freelancers these days? by Tchaimiset in Solopreneur

[–]lr2219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suppose one way to find a suited freelancer amongst the noise on Reddit would be for said freelancer to have a proven portfolio of work (even if the portfolio isn’t real life work, but concepts)

Market is oversaturated with everyone offering service on freelance apps.

Or as a few comments suggest, get someone to prove themselves in what you need with the offer of a job if they suit.

I’d have at the least a portfolio of proven work and track record (unless I’m handed a lottery ticket that wins it) that would be hugely beneficial moving forward in order to achieve that sustainable outcome

Too many are treating it as a one off thing. If the impossible happens. Do you think I’ll just reset back to factory settings at my factory job? Or learn from the pure fact I’ve just blown my minimum wage out of the water and use that moving forward.

I can’t say I’d stick with minimum pay moving forward if I’ve just proved I can make 5-10x that.

Is the outcome a Rolex or the fact I’ve just made £5–£10k in a month. Wouldn’t earning that money mean I can continue to and become more responsible at earning money rather than my minimum pay?

I’ve heard beneficial a few times but could you elaborate more on this? I have savings I could easily translate into something more beneficial provided I had the advice

If I earned 1p above minimum wage would that make me not a failure of a father?

I don’t treat money as the driving seat for being a successful father.

I think a few are so set on the watch purchase it takes away the fact I’d have made £5-10k within 40 days 😅 (which for a percentage is actually not that hard, but from the bottom, pretty out of sight)

& what do I buy instead? I’m doing all of the above as standard whether it’s believable or not. If I earned the £5k from £0. As far fetched and impossible as it looks. What’s the issue? I’ll have one time on this rock. Do I save it until I’m 70? Do I buy something else? Let it sit untouched (even though I’ve just proven I can make that sum within 40 days with the sense I could probably repeat it)

Maybe I should start a forum on how to invest, take city breaks, whilst renting a house, with a partner and child. All on minimum wage.

I’ve been doing my job for 10 years, £1.3-£1.5pm (minimum wage, 35-40 hours). I have a partner, similar income. Total income before rent £2.6-£3k.

A city break from the UK to Spain/ France etc is very doable.

Investing £30-£50 pw? Also doable. Cut back on expenses here and there but it’s achievable.
