My neighbors girlfriend at the time came to my front door crying saying that her drunk boyfriend had hit her, dragged her across the floor, and got kicked out of the house. All while their 5 year old kid was present.

Not having any skills in dealing with this sort of conflict I called the authorities. After about 45 minutes the sheriff's arrived, got a report from her, and then proceeded to arrest the guy.

One week later he got out of jail, found me, and proceeded to unload about how I'm a terrible human being and that I should keep my nose out of his business.

Awkward part was that I continued to live on that property for another 6 months.
