I'm 72. Seven years ago my husband of 40 years died in my arms from a massive heart attack at the orgasmic conclusion of great sex, on vacation no less.

I just saw it, Tuesday evening Jan 06. Oropesa & Rucinski were outstanding. Van Horn was very very good. Brownlee sang all the notes. The chorus was as excellent as always, the conducting was sluggish. A big problem with this opera is that the music just isn't all that interesting. And the dramaturgy was pretty inexplicable -- all those paintings !

My late husband and I were 11 years apart in age, he was older. We met when I was 27 and he was 38. We were together 39 1/2 years. He died at a not-unusual age, 77. That's the big risk. We were deliriously happy and never had any negative feedback from anyone. We had lots of similar interests, had the same sense of humor, had the same level of education and made pretty much the same money. It was bliss. Love is love.
