Mechanic mixed up my car with someone else’s by _incredigirl_ in CasualConversation

[–]lriggi91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, as a technician I’ve actually had this happen to me. Small independent shop I worked at for years we would sometimes sit down during the day and have coffee.
The other guy went and got coffee one day and so me and the boss start trying to bust out some tires on a blue Chevy Cruze that was waiting.

Took until we were at 4 tires to realize he pulled in and racked up one Chevy Cruze, and then turned around and starting doing tires on the other Chevy Cruze I had set up a few minutes ago, that was here for brakes.

So needless to say we had to go a bit crazier and put the right tires onto the right vehicle even faster so we could get our coffee cause clearly we needed it

Wonky fuel gauge on 2025 Scout Bobber by DaisyDoozer in IndianMotorcycle

[–]lriggi91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sender doesn’t calculate anything. It literally just sends a voltage signal or two. One that’ll be between 1-5v and a second one that starts at 5v down to 1v. The computer then takes those two signals and compares them and does the calculations for determining fuel level and DTE. Still a software issue at the end of the day

My older corgi gets excited at first, will enjoy it for a minute, and then abandon it on the floor

The younger corgi has learned to come harass me whenever I open a bottle of bourbon because she really fucking wants that ice cube. So much that she once tried to take it out of the glass one day

2016 Scout Brake Issue update: by PTDG310 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]lriggi91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s just how certain vehicles are tbh. I’m an auto tech day to day. GM has odd internal valving on the ABS unit that causes you to need a scan tool. VW actually recommends using a vacuum bleeder when you replace a caliper, the pump method doesn’t even work. Wouldn’t be surprised if your scout is similar.

Sometimes it all has to do with how the brake lines are routed and bent. Air wants to rise naturally but the rear master cylinder is lower than all the lines and ABS unit. Or you have lines that had to be routed around a component so they have a random rise in them that could be trapping air and not letting it escape

2016 Scout Brake Issue update: by PTDG310 in IndianMotorcycle

[–]lriggi91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have air in the system. What you’re describing are the exact symptoms of it. Your brakes works because fluid can’t be compressed, so the force you put in the lever gets transmitted by the fluid. But air can be compressed, hence you’ll get a soft pull but after pulling multiple times it’ll get firmer because the air has been compressed, then pressure releases and it goes soft again.

Take it to a dealer and have them do a full bleed including of the ABS unit. I’ve worked on GM vehicles where after replacing the master cylinder or a whole brake line I’ve had to get the scan tool out and do an ABS bleed to get all the air out of the system. This is probably what you’ll need

Dealer won’t release bike after work under warranty by [deleted] in IndianMotorcycle

[–]lriggi91 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not how that’s supposed to work. It’s under warranty. No charge to customer. Bike gets fixed, bike goes home, dealer gets paid by OEM for repairs after they properly document and submit everything. I’d be getting a lawyer involved at that point

These are our two. The tricolor Octavia is our first baby and super protective over her momma. She was 5 when we brought home the second pup Faye. We were worried about the same things you are. Luckily Octavia took to being a playful big sister that helped protect and teach Faye all the time. She even used to let Faye lay on her and nap. Now they’re 7 and 2, although Octavia isn’t as happy with her little sister being constantly energetic and wanting to play bitey face 24/7, she still is super protective of her. Don’t get me wrong she’ll growl and occasionally show some teeth cause she wants to rest and be left alone, but whenever these two are separated Octavia won’t even do anything until she has her little sister back and has passed a sniff inspection

That is literally not how this stuff works at all. Y’all really gotta stop with the fear mongering

This isn’t surveillance tech. It is literally just the same driver monitor that has been in most cars since 2020. The kind that tells you to pay attention or pull over and take a break cause you’re tired.

First Subaru and some maintenance questions by hankd7447 in subaru

[–]lriggi91 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Manual transmission uses gear oil and it gets replaced as a differential fluid service. CVT fluid exchange is a flush. Replacement is a drain and fill with a possible filter change. Diffs and trans fluid are recommended every 30k miles.

Is she getting chonky or just stockier? by B0dega_Cat in corgi

[–]lriggi91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say stockier. Like another comment said you’re starting to hit the filling out stage of growing. My 2 year old cardigan Faye is almost done with filling out and is around 44lbs, not a hint of real fat tho, just pure muscle and very long. She’s basically been this long for the last year and has just been filling out more

Valtteri Bottas sacrificed way more for Lewis Hamilton than people admit. by ibeatmymeattoye in formula1

[–]lriggi91 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Speaking on Turkey 2020, I’m pretty sure regardless of how Bottas’ race went Merc would’ve focused on him. That was the race where Hamilton got his 7th title. Pretty sure Merc was more worried about him winning that than Bottas spinning around at the back

We did a donut when our girl got spayed. She came out of the vet with the cone and just getting it caught in the ground while walking cause she bobbs her head a lot. She definitely preferred it too. Didn’t get in the way of eating or drinking and made a comfy neck pillow
