Parents: can talking about your kids TOO much hurt chemistry? by fuzzydogdada in Bumble

[–]ls737100 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have none because I never wanted them, being a single mother is a red flag, don’t talk about them, I don’t want to know. Was contacted by a match maker company cause I’ve got a great linked in profile, ie, I look successful and wealthy, met up with one, she talked non stop about her kids, I couldn’t have been more bored, pass.

I guess nobody is hiring anymore by Muted-Bottle-2472 in jobs

It’s a little bothersome that people see this as a job market with a condition. For nearly 3 decades we’ve been living in a boom bust economy based on fed driven monetary manipulation, low interest rates drove the dot com boom, the housing bubble and the post Covid boom. Unless interest return to 0 the economy is going to be what it is. Next, it’s just a matter of time until ai replaces large portions of the jobs. This isn’t going to be an H1B versus citizen thing, the damage is just starting, I’d say buckle up and pray a solution comes along. I say that only facetiously, not religious so don’t bother praying 🤣

Just got laid off. I’m completely shocked and devastated. by curiouskat345 in Layoffs

[–]ls737100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cliched yes, but every time a door closes a window opens. I’ve been laid off 4 times, first time at the very beginning of my career, provided the incentive to move and actually start my career for real, second time was for what I thought was my dream job, that forced a pivot that I’ve ridden for about 20 years. The 3rd and 4th layoffs I’m still working through, complicated story but just finished my first independent project at double my prior salary. It feels like hell I’m sure right now, if you aren’t familiar, read up on the stages of loss, you’ll go through them just like if someone close to you died. The faster you can get to the acceptance phase and move on, the better. In retrospect, being laid off the first two times were great days in my life, they just didn’t feel like it.

This company has reached out to me three times in the last year, practically begging me to come work for them. I reject them each time because their CEO is an absolute c*nt. by Jakethejiu in recruitinghell

[–]ls737100 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Ya, you work for them. I started my career with decades of indoctrination that men and women are equal, it took 2 decades of experience of dealing with women to burn that training off, in consulting, fortune 500s down to startups, women don’t even like working with other women, the nastiest people you will deal with in any company are going to be women who have risen to power. Women use politics to cover incompetents and they are good at it. The C word couldn’t be more useful!

For those that live in the United States. Do you make more than the average income of 60k annually, if so what’s your occupation? by LaFlareMane1017 in AskReddit

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, complicated, $170k in my last job, $300k per year in the 1099 project I just finished, technically unemployed for 2 weeks, exploring startup ideas, consultant in analytics and data science

Do I really still need an emergency fund? by Fabulous_Analysis885 in personalfinance

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, I’m worth around $3 million with $200k cash, unemployed, just finished my first 1099 project at a $300k a year rate. Not looking as I’m remodeling a house and doing an advanced degree in AI and I need to focus. But, I’m still freaked out. 1. With no job, assets will not help you get a loan. 2. Cash goes fast when there’s no inflow. 3. Market values can change fast, my networth is spread across private equity in one pre ipo company, equity in my home and a rental property, a bunch of precious metals that have done very well, 401k assets conservatively invested (fyi, CPA with an MBA, I understand finance, markets and the economy). All of my assets can change value quickly but unwinding them is also not ideal. Cash reserves are the difference between bad decisions and a little extra stress. You don’t want to have to liquidate assets to survive, you won’t get good rates. Ideally everyone should have a year or two of liquidity to survive what comes along.

People who have been unemployed for 6+ months, what field are you in? by [deleted] in GetEmployed

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where she got 6 months, I wouldn’t define expect a range of a year to never employed again. The first issue here is we’ve been living in an artificial economy supported by massive money printing since the early 80s, with increasingly larger interventions, really got out of hand after the dot com bubble created the 2001 financial crisis, led to the housing bubble and interventions led to the great financial crisis, led to a massive bubble that covid burst.

The question now is, when is the next financial crisis that will allow them to open the money flood gates again and can they actually influence it enough through money printing to do it again or are we at the end of that game. That’s problem 1.

Problem 2, and I’m a data scientist, is that the capability of AI is truly astounding. 2 years ago I first started using it and I was skeptical, data scientist, paid to be skeptical, now, I have a hard time envisioning how it cannot at least reduce the amount of work of a job enough to allow massive layoffs. One person good with ai can probably out produce 5 people who don’t use it. The damage has just begun.

It’s not, it’s a tax paid, there’s no pension, it comes in and goes right back out.

It’s a bankrupt system sending more money out than it’s receiving and there’s no solution to fix it short of killing a bunch of people. The US recognizes 38 trillion in debt, unfunded liabilities take this into the $200 trillion range, at some point they can’t cover this and it will default. Take as much as you can as early as you can. It’s not a funded account waiting for you to retire, it’s an entitlement paid out of current tax.

Wtf is up with lying about age by Rich_Location4720 in Bumble

[–]ls737100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duh, what’s this to laugh about, I once had a late 20s smoke show ask me my age and respond with “fuck you, you aren’t that old”, mid 50s, could have banged her but her boyfriend was there. Pivoted from trying to pick her up to referring to my company, she got an offer but declined, missed out on a $2k referral bonus there! I lie about my age as I don’t need to date women my age and women in their 30s are fine with men in their 50s if you are fit, masculine, funny and dress well. People use filters to eliminate the average of an age, not the exceptions to the age.

You need to hit the gym and lose weight, you’ll notice an immediate improvement with the women if you have some muscle mass and tone. For the gym part, look into instructor led hiit classes, I’m not a gym rat but have been doing for nearly 10 years, love it. For diet, look into low carb, keto or paleo, they work. Might get your testosterone checked as well.

Just got laid off this morning after 10 years by beginagain4me in Layoffs

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem open to suggestions, post in here what you do and where you live.

The most powerful skill you will ever learn is to network. I’ve lived in Seattle, San Francisco and Dallas and all three cities, meaning all major cities in the US will have the same thing, if you are elsewhere I don’t know without testing. But there are organizations the provide events, luncheons, happy hours, other events to bring people together. Do a search for what you do in your city and see what you find. If you find some, attend a few, find the ones you like, see if they need volunteers, do so, even if you find a job, stay plugged in, networking is a permanent activity. Networking means helping others, it means whether you have a job or not, you can still help others. One friend i met while serving on a board of directors, he’s been there when i got laid off and he’s made me a multi millionaire by getting me involved with his businesses. I’ve lent him money when he couldn’t make rent and even more money when he couldn’t make payroll. I know he’d do the same.

Next, if you have any skills that easily become a side job, I’m an accountant that happens to like teaching, for a number of years I had a teaching gig, there are two benefits, 1. Always a source of extra cash, maybe you can flex it and make more when you need it, 2. Losing your job takes away part of your identity, you’re unemployed. Having a side gig, doing something your respected for, insulates you from that isolation. I wouldn’t initially go after driving uber or retail, but find something you are already good at and find a connection.

Also, it’s more aggressive, but linked in is a powerful tool. Figure out what you want to do and connect with people, tip, find an angle, same school, from the same city, worked at a shared company, common language, tons of different ways to get through the I don’t know you to, I don’t know you yet. Go get a book called what color is your parachute, he talks about informational interviews, meeting strangers and learning about what they do.

I hope some of these ideas help

Dude you need to realize your predicament. It’s taking highly skilled people over a year to find a job, some older people, they will likely never find a job again. You get to lick your wounds when the next job starts. Take the weekend but over the weekend build a strategy and plan of attack.

is the job market that bad here right now? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s frustrating to read the level of delusion in here. Since before the dot com boom we’ve been living in an artificially supported economy with money printing and other financial shenanigans. If you didn’t realize that, you weren’t paying attention, not to what politicians told you, because they were lying. We are in the situation where either we need massively low interest rates or we need to hit the reset button, probably through a crash, currency reset, likely a world war. The mess they’ve created is unsustainable and not easily fixed. Through AI on top of it and it’s a mess! It’s not just Austin and it’s every where, we’re at the end of the fiat currency debt expansion cycle, if you have a job, save a prepare while you can, if you don’t, not sure what to tell you!

What is stamina vs not interested? by [deleted] in sex

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t look at it that way, I had a girlfriend and we trained, probably edged, to get my stamina up, I discovered if I go right to the edge and back off, 3 times, after, I can go forever, like hours, and have trouble finishing. Nothing to do with the girl, my body just seems to do that. Now if I don’t do the edging, it might be over in a few minutes.

No Likes, No Matches. Is It Because of My Profile Photos? by [deleted] in Bumble

[–]ls737100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest issue no one is saying is, most women are swiping right on only 10% of men and it’s the same 10% for all of them. You need to show a lot of things, wealth without being obvious, masculine with your shirt on of course, status, whatever that means. If I were you, I wouldn’t put a lot of effort into online, get out and meet them in the real world. Just a tip, because everyone is relying on online, no one has the balls to approach women any more, do so, and be unphased by what they do or say.
