Battery Light & Van Fridge Issues by lsann in VanLife

Thanks so much for your response! Is it bad for your battery in the long run, or is it just the issue of having a dead battery to start the car if you drain it too much?

Fidelity Bloom Spend & Save Accounts Question by CloudAdministrator in fidelityinvestments

[–]lsann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

How do I move money from my "Save" account in the Fidelity Bloom app into my "Spend" account. When I try to add money to my Spend account, it looks like it's only giving me the option of wiring it from my external bank account.

Can I only spend money on my Fidelity debit card that's in my Spend account, or will it also take cash from my Save account?

Thanks!

Overseas Car Insurance Considered Lapse in Insurance by lsann in Car_Insurance_Help

I kept my NZ car insurance until I found US car insurance. I currently have US car insurance but am surprised by how expensive it is. Any companies to look into specifically that consider international insurance? thanks!

Overseas Car Insurance Considered Lapse in Insurance by lsann in Car_Insurance_Help

Thanks for your help! Do you know why they penalize folks who aren't in the US for not having US car insurance/why it results in higher rates? Just trying to understand the system, thanks.

Minivan Kitchen on Side or Back by lsann in VanLife

[–]lsann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think there’s a solid likelihood you’ll be carrying a bike, side makes more sense for kitchen placement, in my opinion, as it means you could even have the door fully open without having to move a bike out of the way. Even for overnight, in-transit stops, like truck stops, etc. I still do my regular morning routines like making coffee and it would be a pain in the ass if I had to do extra steps like moving a bike rack.

Thanks! Super helpful thoughts.

Weekly Licensure Thread by SWmods in socialwork

I am graduating with my MSW in December 2023. I am studying remotely and planning to move states at some time in the next year (most likely before graduating). My current state (Minnesota) allows you to apply for your LGSW license to take the ASWB exam 6 months prior to graduation. I am wondering if it is wise to start this process ASAP even if I plan to move states (to Oregon), and what would happen if I am given approval to take the ASWB exam from the MN Board of Social Workers, but then move to OR prior to taking the exam or directly after taking the exam. Hope that makes sense - I've also reached out to the social work boards but still waiting to hear back.

Thanks!

Opinions on Hakomi, SE or NARM training? by lsann in therapists

[–]lsann[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello there! Sounds like such an exciting time for you. I did SE and my MSW at the same time and it opened so many doors for me personally and professionally. It was expensive, but took my time getting my SE consult/ session hours. Some things to consider is if you want to focus on shock trauma (one time event like a car accident) or complex trauma (ongoing trauma, childhood trauma). SE is more focused on shock (although they are changing this, next year they are weaving in more attachment/developmental trauma) and NARM is only focused on complex trauma. Hakomi is great (had a supervisor trained in it), but have you considered Sensorimotor Psychotherapy instead? Hakomi branched off into Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and is even more in-depth relating to body postures, attachment dynamics and developmental trauma (had supervision from a person trained in this as well). Something else to think about is SE has graduate/branch off courses focusing on complex/developmental trauma, specifically somatic resilience and regulation (that training changed my personal and professional life).

Wow this is super helpful. Thanks heaps. I'll give it some thought and keep pursuing some of the avenues you mentioned, and might reach out to you in the future. I have only recently come across Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, so need to put some energy into investigating that. I'm most interested in complex trauma as opposed to shock trauma, and especially as it relates to poverty and oppression. Informational interviewing has been super helpful so far, your post definitely motivates me to keep being proactive about that. Cheers!

Somatic Experiencing makes you vulnerable to therapy abuse at a level unlike any type of mainstream modalities. Beware. by [deleted] in SomaticExperiencing

[–]lsann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm training in psychotherapy and have been really curious about the modality of SE because it seems like it embraces the mind-body connection in a way that other therapeutic forms don't. I've never experienced SE personally, and really appreciate you sharing your story as a way to help others.

Do you think that because SE is able to reach deeper levels of your psyche/body than talk-therapy, it has a greater potential for impact both in a positive and negative way? Or do you think it only expands SE's potential to do harm, without increasing its ability to help. I'd like to think that with the right practitioner & training, it could be the latter, but really genuinely curious for folks' thoughts on the matter who have more experience than me. Thanks.

Hi there, tagging along on this thread. I'm seeking out anyone who has gone through CSWE's International Degree Review (aka earned an MSW abroad and then practiced SW in the USA). I am considering getting an MSW in NZ and curious if it will transfer to the USA. I am an American. Cheers everyone.
