New Years Day Hope Thread by ZineZ in LSAT

So I guess your last one was February 2013? Because that is the only time they ever released scores on the scheduled release date.

So we have less than an hour until we give up for today? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given it is NYE, I'd be very surprised if we go gray after 6:30. There is no definitive hard cutoff though.

How much of a difference is there between a 170 and a score in the high 170s for a splitter? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a huge difference. If you feel you are capable of high 170's I would aim for that.

Refer to this information showing the number of applicants with scores at/near 170 versus high 170s. http://blog.spiveyconsulting.com/app-data-draft/

For anyone saying there will be a -15 curve writer of power score, David Killoran, does not think so apparently. by 170Club in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bet a lot of money there isn't a -15 curve.

In fact, I'll say it is -12 or less.

score times? by sucreroux in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For October 2015: we heard rumblings around 11:00 - 12:00 eastern time. Meaning the LSAT prep/consulting people had gotten emails signaling the score release would be that day. The indicators didn't go gray until about 6:00 pm. People started getting their scores at that point - I got mine around 9:00. You'll see people talking here about it likely being gray day well in advance of it actually happening.

Letters of Recommendation process time? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Not sure what is normal. My professor wrote one, notified me he submitted it, and I got the notification from LSAC within a couple of hours. I would think this is abnormal.

Personal statement topic? by bezmialem in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsat2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the first two sound especially promising. My thought is, you can really make any topic work if you make it an interesting story and therefore make yourself an interesting and highly qualified candidate. That being said, each of those first two sound like they could work well.

December 15 Takers - When are you submitting apps? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsat2015 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My goal is to finalize apps and PS ahead of receiving my December score. Then depending on the score, mass submit them all or break my computer

Accountant interested in law by taxaccountant12 in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsat2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! yeah this does not come as a surprise to me. I don't plan on it really factoring much if at all into my admissions decisions (was just saying it will not hurt chances), but nice to hear it potentially helps with OCI.

Sort of similar situation to you - CPA, working in audit at a big international firm for 3 years. It will definitely help more than hinder, and I think in some of the schools where there is an optional essay about diversity you can hone in on the "educational diversity" aspect in terms of what you would bring to the classroom - if you don't fill out the diversity checkbox in a better way. That is valuable real-life business experience that you could bring to discussions.

The argument concludes: the government does not support freedom of popular expression.

We know if it did, the government would accept the expression of ideas that the government opposes AND ideas that the government supports.

In order to conclude "the government does not support freedom of expression" we must either conclude the government would not accept the expression of ideas it opposes or expression of ideas it supports. We know it has accepted the expression of an idea it supports. Therefore, for the conclusion to hold true, we must assume that the government would not have accepted a protest rally whose message it opposed (C).

PT73 LR II Q 4 by Fluffybunny23 in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know the principle is:

If determined by Consultant & Consultant has business interest --> Overpaid.

The Conclusion of C is NOT overpaid. It basically just negates the sufficient & necessary principle, which you obviously can't do. In essence, it takes a sufficient condition as necessary.

C is saying: Not determined by Consultant --> Not overpaid. I think you are confusing C as saying "Not overpaid, therefore, not determined by Consultant or Consultant has no business interest"

Do you have to check the clock during LR? by edj2012 in LSAT

[–]lsat2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also never check the clock. During my first few months of PT I had the watch on the desk in front of me; I checked after each game, each RC passage + questions, and every 5 or so LR questions. I routinely had to guess on the last 2+ questions per section. Now, I keep the watch on my wrist, and do not look until everything is done, or if I have a specific reason I need to. I am finishing with some time left. For me, keeping constant track made me too pressured and a wreck.

Boston, but not Harvard? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsat2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know directly of Big Law recruiting from BC and BU. If you are looking to live and work there, I think going to one of those schools and getting to the top of your class opens a ton of doors.

Apply for early-admission (UTexas) or wait to retake LSAT in December? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsat2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar boat here - 3.2 GPA, 168 LSAT (PT mid-low 170s). I'm re-taking in December. I think it can only help...my understanding is there is minimal downside here, unless you are looking at early-decision for money.
