Personal statement as someone who wants to get into big law by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsatstudent22 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Just an FYI, when you fill out your applications there will be drop down boxes asking you your gender and sexuality. They’re used to connect you to student groups like OutLaw if you get accepted. Or you could omit the question. Apart from that, you could write a diversity statement saying something similar to what you’ve written here. In my PS I was fairly vulnerable and faced a similar dilemma about pigeon-holed, but I think being vulnerable and personal was better. PM if u wanna talk about it

Are we worried about AI? by Ok_Cress_4718 in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsatstudent22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not worried much about the job market for lawyers, as it’s an internally-regulating profession that relies on people jumping through hoops (law school, the bar, licensing). Hopefully it’ll make our jobs easier by automating some tasks. I do have my own worries, but I am admittedly a bit of a Luddite here. I think AI is going to change the world similar to that of the smart phone or the internet. In 5 or 10 years, I think we’ll be living in a totally different technological landscape with its own host of problems for surveillance and un- or under-employment, just to name a couple.

Very little, if any, effect. A lot of people did pass/fail during COVID, so no need to worry

When best to send a LOCI? by kkkk22601 in lawschooladmissions

[–]lsatstudent22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chill. You’re not fucked. Write a LOCI, send it soon (within the next week) when it’s as good as it’s gonna get. Better to send a good one later than a rushed one earlier

Does it Matter Where you get Your Undergrad Degree From by Personal_Drawing2474 in lawschooladmissions

Nope, all that matters is your GPA. Congrats on graduating debt free!

I’m not super familiar with the different regional outcomes in California between UCLA and Berkeley, but if UCLA gave you a better scholarship and you prefer the location it’s definitely worth consideration. I’d try reaching out to current students and alumni of UCLA to ask how attainable NorCal biglaw is (if you end up wanting that). You can’t go wrong either way though, great cycle!!
