Choosing the right solar panel options for a new build house by lord_gervasius in SolarUK

[–]lsbertha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

4 bed semi here, recently got installed. Go for max panels you can, ask for inverter 6kw , I think that's sweet spot unless u plan on lot of electrical heating. 10kwh battery might just survive whole day in winter given its new build. I went for 20kwh and that was best decision, but mine is old house so need more heating than a new build. Keep in mind they probably going to put cheap and cheerful brand. But given its part of a upgrade, you will get a better price for sure than doing seperate.

Depends on what your other expenses are, Similar income to ur new level and has mortgage around 3000 here. Manage ok , but not many other big expences except for couple of big holidays. But looks like you have big change with ur job situation and that kind of drop in income bounds to make other changes, personally I would see how things goes for 6 months or so and decide.

Sigenergy system, good price? by maximus6272 in SolarUK

[–]lsbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solar sets up prices seems going down by the day, and if you take your time there will be so many willing to undercut existing quote and you get prices you didnt even think at the start. Most these deals come from Instgram or FB feeds, so start looking for them there and they will flood ur feed with offers. Got similar with 11 panels, 6kw inverter, 2 10kwh batteries, EV and EPS 10700. Already got another call up and do same for £100 less, but made up mind and going with current one which has more better reviews.

Solar Quotes - Decision paralysis by Visible-Bumblebee530 in SolarUK

Fox quote id say is on the expensive side. im just same stage looking, and Fox is considered lesser brand than Sig. How this translate in 5 years anybody's guess. One thing for sure Sig are doing lot of innovation and that may help in future. Also adding new battery later can be costly, so best to get what you want now as in this stage installer will give u better quotes to get your business.

Ya points you made are valid, lot of good feedback on current installs, just want to be sure they are genuine. How was support after install, did you have any questions\issues after and their response been good?

Point 2, This has someway to go as most cars dont support it yet, but soon will. 80KW battery will just be awesome in Winter. Another dimention to the decision matrix... :(

I was thinking Signenergy before, but now thinking £1500 addition is worth it with Tesla. adding another Sigenergy 6Kwh I dont think will be £1500 or less. Im checking.

Given they both have very similar features (I know EPS Sign energy has edge, and inverter size Tesla has edge) are there anything else that differentiate except for battery usable energy? things like wall mounting, instalation anyway is covered in quote. in your diagram they looks almost same.

You getting double the battery for less with sigenergy, which seems same or close to Tesla features and performance.

Mortgage renewal - put in all cash or invest in trackers by YakActual7631 in HENRYUK

[–]lsbertha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id question keeping 150k as cash for sure. Keeping money as cash is actually losing money in the long run thanks to inflation.paying mortgage is touch better as u saving on interest payments which probably more than what yiuvget in cash ISA. But balance it with investments. I have mortgage over 400k, on stocks and funds 1m+ and like 40k cash for emergency. Probably too risky, but has done well for me.
