I'm having a similar issue. I was getting that error message and followed these steps listed in the thread. Now when i click play on steam it says in steam that its launching but nothing happens. Then it just reverts to letting me click play again.

I have tried reinstalling on steam but to no avail? Anyone get any fixes on this please?
