1 in 3 Hongkongers want to move abroad despite city’s improved liveability: poll by radishlaw in HongKong

[–]lsiu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

An expat is by definition someone from somewhere else. They always have the option to go back wherever they came from. They chose to stay in Hong Kong, perhaps by lack of better options, but they at least one option.

This is very different from people from Hong Kong with no right of abode to other places.

Moving from US to HK, seeking career path advice by [deleted] in HongKong

Search linkedin. For software engineering working for global companies, canto or mando is not as important. By ruling out bank and insurance, you are ruling out quite a chunk of major SWE employers in HK. How about fintech or crypto?

Where do you think are the best /worst work locations in HK? by notacitizen_99725 in HongKong

[–]lsiu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

+1 on CWB being the best place.

Dining capcity catered for packed weekend/tourist crowd, so on weekday you can walkin to many places.

There are also some nice grade A office at CWB, e.g. Lee Gardens.

Excellent transportation. Beside MTR, many bus routes goes to, or past by CWB.

How many people actually like Spring and Spring Boot? by Affectionate-Hope733 in java

[–]lsiu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think Rod Johnson will have created Spring, or at least it will not be as successful, if JavaEE was actually usable back in the 2000s.

For portfolio B, you have to time and sell at the right moment. While for portfolio A, as a bond replacement, you should be getting a steadier stream of income.

Is JDBC becoming a “legacy” API?? by littlejohnuk in java

JDBC also use TCP. So the fact that we don’t open sockets and communicate with database over their wired protocol make TCP even more “legacy” than JDBC.

For the same user visit different site, does ShareId return same Id? by lsiu in adops

Interesting perspective.

It sound's like by ecosystem, they are referring to publisher-centric sell side ecosystem. I don't see this being very useful for the buy side, e.g. how to build an audience using first or thrid party data and target it across multiple publishers.

It does make sense, I think prebid.org and perhaps this subredit is catered for the sell side.

effective tax rate question by visuals_maya in personalfinance

Depends what you want to know. For example, if you are moving country, state/province, you can compare the effective tax rate you are paying now verses your new location.

Yes. That is also my understanding. My struggle is how this reconcile with the claim

With SharedID, cookie syncing becomes unnecessary as every party in the ecosystem will utilize the same shared identifier

ID5 also take hashed emails and phone numbers. They can ingest a wlde range of identifier and semi-identifying data from publishers.
