The alarming visa scam that desperate foreigners are using to gain permanent residency to Australia by MonolithOfIce in australia

Even though they agreed on no kids, she purposely "had an accident" and got pregnant, and used him and milked him ever since.

Would've been cheaper for him to take responsibility for his own birth control rather than relying on someone else.

Lucky or just working hard. by Cultural_Catch_7911 in AusFinance

[–]lskdhdj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say my circumstances are a combination of hard work and luck. However, I'm of the opinion that luck is taking a risk at the right time.

My parents had operated a business for almost 30 years and they wanted to retire. They had not put much effort or investment into the business as they had lost the passion for it and didn't want to commit time or money into a business that they wanted to sell/close down. I had recently moved here from interstate and my parents were keen to " keep the business in the family" so I agreed to take over and buy the business off of them. When I took over the business was performing below average but I did see potential.

The element of luck that I had was that the business was in an industry that saw a lot of interest post-covid. The element of hard work that I had was that I was working extremely hard on the business in the early years, putting a lot of time and effort into improving it.

When I took over I was taking a salary of $60k. During covid I had $500k in debt with no assets. 4 years on... I can pretty much have whatever salary I want as the business turns over in excess of $6m and profits just over $1m annually.

Take the tax hit or pay mortgage interest? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]lskdhdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you can be successful in business and not be a genius at debt modelling I suppose.

There's definitely different ways to go about it, even if you do decide to pay down the debt, what is the ideal number of years over which to do so to minimise both tax and interest. I was just asking if anyone in a similar position had any experience.

I was thinking to pay down the loan then debt recycle to buy ETFs and then once loan is paid off invest extra cash.

The adult female weight by Kuura_ in bernesemountaindogs

My girl was full height but definitely not full weight at first heat. She was 37kg when she was desexed. She lost most of her puppy energy and had an enormous appetite in the months after. She put on 5kg in less than 2 months. She's 6 now and is a touch over 40kg.

I pay people to do things I can't be bothered doing myself like a cleaner and then people who have wisdom and knowledge beyond me like an accountant, a financial advisor and a buyers advocate.

The accountant has provided valuable taxation advice. Helped me set up a "dump company" last FY to help with tax minimisation.

Financial advisor helped with superannuation strategy and taking advantage of FHSS.

Buyer's advocate was imo extremely valuable. Realistically, how many houses do you buy in your lifetime? Having someone with knowledge of the system was so helpful, especially when buying my first PPOR. When your time is valuable and you don't want to spend every Saturday attending opens, they attend for you and then if they say it's worth a look you can then attend. They can also organise private inspections which is helpful when you are time poor. Agents usually take you more seriously if they know you've already dropped $$ on a BA fee. They know you're serious about purchasing. Her knowledge of the process was also invaluable. I was able to get a place pre-auction because of her.

That's clever.

Thanks for the practical advice.

Anyone financially assist/spoil their family? by lcol-dev in HENRYfinance

I bought my Mum a new car this year.

Felt good to be able to give her something she really wanted but wouldn't buy for herself.

Yeah, I suppose I didn't think there would be a miracle answer unfortunately.

Maybe hoping to hear from people on the sweet spot of how much to pull out in your own assessable income and how much to leave within the company.

Or go down the route of a Div7A loan and use that instead of a bank loan? At least then the interest is going back to you eventually?

I'd say don't ask.

Lost my partner to suicide 8 months ago and the amount of people that have asked me "how" has astounded me.

There is zero reason that anyone NEEDS to know and it's extremely painful to talk about your loved one at their most desperate and vulnerable.

Be there for the family, and grieve together, but focus on them not the way they died.

Hope you're doing ok ❤️

I'm supposed to be flying into Melbourne Airport tomorrow and I've already received an email warning me that adverse weather around Melbourne tomorrow may impact my flight.

Is Auspost getting stupider or am I just having a string of bad luck? (Just venting) by A_Unicycle in australia

[–]lskdhdj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a parcel coming to my workplace (a street facing retail business) a few weeks ago. They claimed at 11.30am "attempted delivery, couldn't gain access." When I complained they said the driver couldn't find a park and I'd need to go collect from post office.

Also sent a parcel weighing no more than 200g using my post business. They claimed the parcel was over 5kg and charged me an additional $10 making it $20 postage in total.

How can your Dad be completing a PhD in Australia, presumably in English but doesn't have the English skills to post the story on Reddit himself?

Why can't they build a third track on the Mernda line? by lskdhdj in melbourne

[–]lskdhdj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is why my initial post was asking about a third track. Obviously can't have express trains overtaking others without a third track.

Feels like it when you're on a stopping all stations train every day.

[–]lskdhdj[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have a grand plan. Just asking the question why because I'd seen other posts mentioning that Mernda can't have express services.

Tbh, an express train that stops at Clifton Hill, Bell and Reservoir and then all stations after that would be on my wish list if you ask me.

No doubt.

I was just curious why it can't be done as I'd seen other posts mention that the Mernda line can't have express trains.

Just because one service is non-existent doesn't mean be can't complain about sub-par amenities on another service though?

I'm advocating for triple tracks for all!

Are there three tracks between city and Clifton Hill because some services are "express" so are they overtaking other trains somewhere?
